not a good morning to wake up to......
spoke with two reps yesterday wesley and alex. talked about how my reservoir was steadily lowering in level, they both said that minor loss or evaporation is normal and i said that within the first 5 days of running, i would shut it down overnight. i lost about an inch of coolant and didn't notice any major leaking. this morning i decided to dig a little deeper and take the back panel off and have a look and found the leak. didn't notice and leaking looking thru the front panel and never thought to look at the back until this morning. why didn't i look at the back in the past 5 days, well, that side is facing the wall. what is my next step? |

If the block is cracked, you need DS to send you a new one, really no other option. Or, send it back, but I'd do it myself to save time, maybe shipping cost although you are in the free shipping window, and the dreaded shipping stress.

Like bpratt22 says, you can get intimately familiar with your lc and get DS to send you a new manifold (cannot fix the crack) and r&r or use the 30 day window to get DS to fix with no shipping charges. Let us know what you do.
BTW, real nice system Very sorry you are having this issue. Edited by hoserator - 15 Nov 2016 at 8:56am |

Sorry to hear/see the news Searyder. I would have them send me the part also. I hope you get them on the phone soon and good luck with a speedy shipment of the part. Double check to verify nothing else has been leaked on. Better to knock it all out at once.
Please let us know how things go. |

It looks like the seal for the fitting is causing the leak. The fittings we use are quite special, they have a rubber gasket that allows the fitting to move up and down during shipping, so that might be the issue.
Fingers crossed on this being an easy fix. |

Luckily you have red fluid. I don't think there should be red in the threaded portion of the block where the crack is located but I don't have a clear manifold to know. The one next to it does not appear to have the same color in the threads. Good luck.

I don't know why, but in one of the pictures the tint coloring to your red coolant seems quite off to me. Discoloration is usually signs to your coolant breaking down. Either way, the fact that you're replacing it yourself means you'll be draining and refilling the loop. Not even my PC but knowing it's getting fresh coolant fixes my OCD. lol

I haven't, I'll go looking now. I really only look at the top posts, and depending on my lazy level and the topic.. lol needless to say I'm missing a lot of stuff.
And if we didn't hijack people's post for our own agendas, why are we even on these forums. ;) j/k |

Aye. I replaced the coolant. Even tho it looked dark. The system was less than a week old in the pic. So I doubt it had a chance to break down. The fine people at digital storm sent me new coolant so now it's fresh as piglet in mud. |

Was it the block or the fitting?

I mean it can happen. Especially if air gets in your system, or if you use a cheap coolant (which DS doesn't). I'm not sure why it looks off to me. Could just be the angle and lighting too. But yea, it was eating away at me the moment I saw it. lol, glad you got it all sorted. |
