Topic: What Games Can I Run Posted: 12 Dec 2017 at 2:40pm |
Hey there everyone. So, basically I want to be able to run games like EU4, CK2, HOI4, Skyrim, Dead by daylight, and other big demanding titles smoothly.
Now I know very little about computers and have been trying to educate myself over the years with very little success. Basically I want a to run the aforementioned titles without breaking the bank as my budget is really only 2500. I know I am currently a little over but I am fine with that so long as somebody can tell me for sure that my setup can handle those titles. If its obvious I cant run those games I would also love suggestions for builds to take in the future, or what price tag I can expect to smoothly run those titles. All those games need little gpu power, what resolution are gaming at?
Your build is ok but remove all the boosts. Not sure you need that 1080 at all. Edited by DST4ME - 12 Dec 2017 at 3:03pm |

Obviously the dream is to game at 4k but I was just going to go with the standard 1920 by 1080 in my case using the MSI 27 inch Optix G27C2 (Curved) (144Hz Refresh Rate) (1ms Response Time) (1920x1080) monitor that's offered from this site. Overall I'm not entirely sure what it takes to game at 4k but I am under the assumption that t would take far more cash to get there. Also I was hoping that with this setup VR gaming wouldn't be a problem. I probably sound pretty nooby when it comes to computers, but its like a language I don't speak. I know what I want, and what I want to say, its just translating that into hardware that gets me stumped.
thanks for the quick reply btw. |

Also the key here is that I want to play those games on ultra settings not just the basic settings.

Those games don't need much comparing to games like gta. You should be fine with 1060 but for vr stick with 1080.
For monitor do your homework, check reviews at Newegg and Amazon, also 4he price should be better in those places. Edited by DST4ME - 13 Dec 2017 at 12:05am |

thanks will do, but do you think I should get the next size up for tower size because the max this tower can hold is 1 gpu and if I need to upgrade or want this thing to last several years shouldn't i have space for adding new parts or no?

If 1798004 is your build with the Vanquish 7 case then it can sli, 2x gpu. If you do want the ability to sli then up the power supply to the 1000watt that's only another $21, I think. For $21 it is more than you need but can't beat the price.
Only if you plan on 4K gaming in the near future would you need sli, and only if your games are demanding graphics wise. |

How can I tell if my games are demanding graphics wise I play pretty much everything, and I mean everything. I can or at least I used too before my previous laptop broke. I was also wondering if I could play minecraft with shaders I know its a bitch somehow to get it to work. And yes the hope is that sometime in the future I would like to do 4k gaming. So if I go with my current build would I be able to upgrade later to a sli 2X gpu. And would 4k gaming even be a possibility.

For 4K gaming playing any game out there you'd need an sli gtx 1080Ti setup if you played games like Witcher, Shadow of Mordor and the other top tiered games and wanted maxed out settings. You'd have to Google the games and it's benchmarks to see what's needed. I can't list all the games here.
If your serious about 4K in the next year or so, then change your build to the gtx 1080ti and stronger psu, then you just need to add another gtx 1080ti later. A single gtx 1080 ti will play on 4K, just not everything at max settings. Not sure what Minecraft needs. If you plan on 4K in 2-3 years then newer cards by then might not need sli setup. But that's looking into a future we can't predict but can usually guess on with some confidence. Edited by bprat22 - 23 Dec 2017 at 9:47am |

So then just a single 1080 Ti would be plenty for just regular settings on 4k? and what PSU would you recomend. And what kind of monitor setup would i need to play at 4k?

Build looks good but I would change the cpu cooler to one of the Corsair units, the H100i is my pick. The DS branded might only have the 1 year DS system warranty where as the Corsair would have 5 years last I looked.
The H115i is a bit better but that case needs the 280mm coolers to be mounted on the front, blowing air in. The H100 is a 240mm rad and can be mounted on the top, blowing the hot air out. A better setup imho. Doubtful you ever need 32 Gig Ram. 16 Gig is plenty for gaming. You could just get the Air stage 1 air cooler if you wanted if you stay with factory overclock, but the h100i gives you room to play with oc if you ever wanted. Either work. The Air is zero problems. The AIO , all-in-one sealed coolers like Corsair might last 3-5 years, but that's a guess. |

so then in your opinion for a versatile 4k gaming desktop that can game at 4k on average visual settings for the most demanding games out there that this build 1805422 fits the description. and if i wanted to improve my 4k gaming experience all i would need to do would be to sli another gpu in the future.

Looks good to me. Put a note in Build Comments on the bottom of config that you want the H100 rad mounted under the top.

Im going to disagree here a little. if in 2 years goes 4k, he would be best with then current ti card which will be way more powerful than 1080 ti, mmo or not. Like current 1080ti vs 790 gtx sli. I like the h115i because it has newer version of the pump that h100i has. But it does create a problem with certain builds if it can't go on top, but velox Alex said it would fit on top. @lord you changing stuff, at first you said mmo on 1440p now you are taking fps and 4k. Most mmo don't even use sli. Edited by DST4ME - 23 Dec 2017 at 2:09pm |

Agree, my advice was 1080ti if he went 4k in a year. Otherwise, wait for the latest.
The 280mm rad will mount on the front, throwing heated air into the case. I’d rather a240mm mounted on top. But , heat in the case, or not the newer pump is a tossup. |

Newer pump seems to have a better track record than the h100, but the all pumps are luck of the draw.
H115i should fit on top of velox according to Alex. Lol ya lord changed it up, went from mmo /1440p to fps /4k lol. Edited by DST4ME - 23 Dec 2017 at 2:12pm |

We might be looking at different builds. The 1805422 has the Lumos case, if I have the latest build of his.
Yeah, gotta decide what gaming you want to avoid wasting money. Or, spend if you have it and decide later. We try to give customers their money’s worth. |

I think Alex said the h115i would fit in the top of Velox because we didn’t think the tubing was long enough with inverted mobo.

OK , you win you big lug.
I still don’t think 280 mm fits in Lumos top. But I’ll yield for now. My IPad makes searching tougher than my desktop. |
