Hello everyone. I'm looking for a laptop that will be able to Handle games like Diablo 3 and League of Legends while still making the game look good. I've looked at all of the laptops that DS have to offer but I just done want to commit to a purchase without getting the community's input.
I work in the oilfield and I am away from the house 25 days at a time. I need something to kill my boredom! Whether its one of the base models or something you can throw together in the configurer I would love to see what you guys have to say.. Only thing I would not like to see is the 11" screen, I don't mean to sound vague with descriptions or anything. And if I'm going about this the wrong way please let me know! Thanks everyone! By the way, my budget for this laptop is $800, willing to go over if absolutely necessary though. |

DS's lowest priced laptop is the $899 xm15. However, the xm15 has a Nvidia GTX 630, and there is no way to upgrade too a better card. This will not run the games that you want at any form of decent frame rates unless you give up eye candy like it is Halloween.
Sorry man, but the cheapest laptop that DS has that should suit your specifications is the x15, which starts at $1218. However, in order to make it a viable, long lasting laptop, you should make the processor upgrade to a quad core Ivy Bridge (instead of the dual core Sandy Bridge). This would put your lowest starting price at $1311. Chassis Model: Digital Storm x15 Laptop (Model: 9130) Display: 15.6 Inch (16:9) (Resolution: 1920 x 1080) (Glossy Surface) LED-Backlit Display Processor: Intel Core i7 3610QM (2.3 GHz Turbo Mode to 3.3Ghz) (Quad Core) (6MB Cache) Thermal Compound: Stock CPU and GPU Thermal Compound Memory: 8GB DDR3 1600MHz Primary Hard Drive: 750GB 7200RPM (SATA 3Gb/s) Secondary Hard Drive: - Not Available Optical Drive: DVD/CD 8x Multi-Drive (Writes and Reads DVDs, CDs) Wireless Card: 802.11 B/G/N Wireless LAN Module Video Card(s): NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670M 1.5GB with NVIDIA Optimus Technology Windows OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium (64-Bit Edition) Warranty Plan: Life-time Expert Customer Care with 3 Year Limited Warranty Normally, I would encourage you to spend the extra couple bucks to upgrade to a hybrid drive (much faster boot time), but considering that you are already over your budget by more than $100 with the above configuration, you may wish to stick with the HDD to hold the price down. |

Great feedback, and yes, making that extra investment to go to $1,311 will definitely be worth it!

How do hybrid drives work as far as making boot times faster?

Hybrid drives take files that you frequently access and store them on the SSD, so when you load Windows, those frequently used files will move to the SSD portion. |
