    Posted: 22 Nov 2015 at 11:51am
In July of this year I bought a Vanquish 3 from Digital storm and I have just noticed that i might have the wrong GPU or im just a noob. It said it would come with a Nvidia GTX 970 but I have an EVGA GTX 970.

Do i have the wrong one?

Thanks, Saulio.

From what I understand, and I could be wrong, Nvidia has licensed the card to be manufactured by a number of different companies... PNY, EVGA, ASUS, MSI, etc...

Same card, different manufacturer.

If I'm wrong, I expect the knowledgeable ones will be here shortly to correct me.

as a matter of fact, my GTX770 Nvidia is made by PNY...

(and yes, I had to take a look!)

Snaike is correct, you are good to go. In fact, some would say that by getting an EVGA brand GPU you actually received a "top of the pile" GPU. Enjoy Strong

Nope, you're good. EVGA, MSI, Gigabyte, Asus, PNY, Zotac, and others sell Nvidia cards. The chip at the heart of the cards is Nvidia and the board is either a reference board branded by those companies, or a custom configuration assembled and sold by those companies using the Nvidia chip.

Nope, you're good to go.   In fact, the EVGA brand is considered by many the best for build and support. Nvidia is just the genetic name of the gpu chip, with others like EVGA, Asus, etc taking the chip and building the card around it.

Wow, are we jumping on this, or what.        Time for me to hunt and peck had everyone else chime in.   Team Forum.

I think everyone is waiting to see who answers.

Whether you need a single or dual sli depends on your gaming.   If you are using a single 1080p monitor then you're probably gaming just fine.   If you want to game on a higher resolution monitor or surround gaming, then sli is preferable.

If your gaming is smooth at the settings you like, keep the single card.

for 1080p the GTX 970 is perfect. stop right there, no need to go past GO.

if you plan on pursuing higher resolutions or multi monitor setups i would strongly reconsider trying to sli GTX 970.  first of all, it's not truly a 4GB card even though it is advertised as such.  i'm not going to get rehash all of the controversy or tech data on this point, you can take my word for it or do your own research on how that impacts your decision.  if you want 2k (1440p) or 4k (2160p) you're going to have to start with a minimum of a GTX 980 (for 2k), and two of those (or better) for 4k.  i know there are people claiming good 4k performance on sli 970's, blah, blah, blah but it's BS.  you will not enjoy it.  trust me now or hear me laterFrustrated
