Planning to buy my youngest son a graduation gift this year and he's into these kinds of stuff. I'm more of a PC hoard LOL. Which one are you playing and why?

Closest thing I have to a console is the Xbone controller I use here on the PC. I'll ask the boy when he stirs, he's a console aficionado of sorts.

I prefer Xbox over play station with that being said the Xbox 360 is equivalent to the PS3 not PS4. I haven't played a PS4 very much but my big thing with Play Station is that I hate their controllers. I also like the set up of XBox live.
PS4 does have stronger hardware in it but that isn't a big deal to me since it is is a very close race between them. Each console also has their exclusive games (ie. HALO series on Xbox). Micro soft seems to also be trying to bring console and PC gaming together but from what I've read briefly they are having some issues with their new Quantum Break game. My vote goes to the Xbox one for both their live service ad their controller. |

Ok, spoke to the offspring. He prefers the Xbone and the 360 to the PStations simply because that is what the friends are all on, ... so, no real preference, just one of the 'guys'.

Hi carefulpunch,
I have never played on a console but here are some thoughts from research. The Xbox has the best controller. I have one and like it. Microsoft will be releasing DirectX 12 for the Xbox. This will give minor improvements to performance allowing more use of the 8 cores of the CPU. The big improvement will be DirectX 12 will give developers much better tools for building future console games. Do a search for "What does the Future hold for Xbox and you will get a lot of information. My vote goes to Xbox. Frank |

Both are the really awesome game console. But I will prefer PS is the best gaming console more Xbox and I also like playing games with PS.

I'm going to get a PS4 this coming Christmas because I missed out on getting a new one last Black Friday since I prioritized on purchasing a new set of truck rims instead.

Playstation all the way. Xbox is good but probably you should compare XboX 1 and PS4, not Xbox 360 (It's very old).
So, I'm a playstation fanboy. Been using all the models of it. I've upgraded to PS4 few months ago and I admire it. You should definitely buy PS4 for your son |

Playstation all day. There is no comparison to me. Xbox is cool, but I just can't get a good feel for it as I do with playstation. I can't wait for ps5 to drop.

Yes, I too going to give you advice to buy PlayStation, as I am PS fangirl. It is also good to have X-box, but in case you have an option to compare it with PlayStation, I will always go for PS. PS4 is an eighth-gen console and XBox 360 is a seventh gen console. It would be better if you go for PS4 Your son is going to thank you for that, you are a good parent by the way.

I used to be a huge playstation fan, but now I'm an Xbox one girl all the way. I had ps1, ps2 and the regular Xbox. I skipped ps3, and got a ps4.. but when I finally saved up enough to afford a Xbox one, I don't think there any,going back.

Xbox or PS4, no Switch or Dreamcast? Lmao, just kidding. You can't even put those in the same category as playstation and Xbox. Tbh, this a tough question as I was lucky and recieved both of them on Christmas. Not from the same person, my Aunt bought me the Playstation because I've been doing good lately and my girlfriend bought me the Xbox one.
I play, both of them alot equally so I can't really compare them in the sense of game time. I'll make my judgement based off of games available and graphics. While they both share a huge game selection, Playstation has some games that aren't available on Xbox that I really like and the graphics on the Playstation I believe are a bit more sharp, and crisp. So I'll have to say Playstation on this one guys. |

Well these two are interesting to compare. They are really two different generation consoles. 360 is an older xbox, right?
I love PS4 more though, i like the browsing, library, music sections and most importantly the exclusive games for Playstation series. |

Let's say i value PS4 for the integrity more than an xbox, as xbox had its flaws and allowed people to chip it and download games off the internet and just play.
While buying the games on PS4 you know that its integrity haven't been lost through the years and your games will uphold to the standard |

PS4 all the way, Sony support is way better to patch things up. I played the latest Call of Duty - WWII and on the first few days i've met someone who could call the drone even if they had 1 kill only. That was reported very fast and the breach was patched in a few hours.
Versus Microsoft support in XBOX when the bug persists for weeks and you don't get that support answered, you just wait and see others missuse the bug |

I think PS4 might be the way to go. Xbox 360 is outdated and no new games can be run by it.
You get better quality using PS4 and although you asked this question on 2016 but ps4 is still way more demanding...
