no i dont mean justins other computers
i mean what else do you work on, customize, spend special time with, enjoy as much or more than your computer
no im not talking about your children or your significant others, i mean your tools and your toys!

I say this all the time and its really corny but honestly, I dont own now, nor have I ever owned another thing that makes me happier every time I look at it. I had some big plans for it but after i made a few changes I decided that I really liked it the way it is. I think the lift from the new tires gives it a good sporty racing feel and less of a thuggish "rollin on 20s" feel. the chrome trim on the back is the icing on the cake for me, love the way it looks. I dont think ill make any more changes except maybe get some different headlights later on
shes a 2006, I've had her for almost 3 years, and I couldnt imagine wanting another car for a long time, enjoy! and post the toys / tools/ machines that you love!
seperate links are at the bottom in case your browser/monitor cant fit them, but i did make them pretty small though. I feel like im the last person at 1280x1024

Hell yes. Got her for $1600 total including renting a truck and trailer to haul it back home, and she's got a ton of parts stashed away in the trunk that the previous owner had bought for her.

The left rear tire just blew out though, so I've got new tires on the way, and then I'll get started on rebuilding the motor.

Whitewalls. I'm going for the right off the lot look. This one's been painted over, so I'll be restoring it to the original colors - cream body and white top.

It's gonna be an awesome build. Logging would be very fun, but there would need to be progress for me to do that!

Well that motor had issues, and I blew it up.  We should have the car back together and down the track before the end of September.  Hopefully 8.20s in the 1/4.  The car is actually painted a different color throughout now.  I will post new pictures when it is cleaned off and not on a lift at the shop.

No doubt drag racing gets expensive.  I bought the car brand new and gutted it before it had 25k miles on it.  haha.  I probably have over 100k in the damn thing, but I don't keep receipts because I have no interest in knowing.

Not yet...I literally just drove it home last night. Its seriously beat up, it needs body work, and some engine work. It only has 113k miles on it though, and it drives, which is a start.

I've also never worked on a car in my life, so it would be an experience for me thats for sure.

It is very rewarding to work on your own car.  From simple oil changes to customization.  I started working on cars when I was 14.    I do some of the work on my race car, but I mostly work with a shop for that.

Good luck with it and I really believe you would enjoy working on it.

yea, ive never done anything too extreme, ive rebuilt a few things, repainted a car completely, couple other smaller projects but i agree 100%

just like with a computer (hence the thread name lol) i think you can really enjoy a car but once you start to do some customizing, rebuilding, and so on you really bond to it and love it way more than something off the line

Thank you for the comments.  What made you decide to buy the Mustang over the Transam?

@ Runes TrakDay, did you ever race your GTO when it was stock?  If so, what were your times?

I think you are asking me about the GTO.  I honestly don't even remember what the car ran stock.  I have taken that car down the track over 300 times.  I think most guys were getting low 13s on completely stock 6spds.  I started upgrading mine with about 2500 miles, so I didn't spend much time with it stock.

Got a few more pics of all the junk (that was formerly) in the trunk.

Once I find all the pics I took when I brought it home, I'll upload those too.

Quick update on the TBird:

Got the new tires in last week, went to the store and got them all put on the rims, so I've moved the car into the garage now where it'll stay either until it's done or I sell the house (longish story).

I'm currently working on organizing the mass of car parts I have on the shelves. Talk about an annoying task....

Anyway, I'm also working on removing the battery tray, as it was rusted through. I've cut it out and have a new part in the mail as we speak. The liner on the inside of the hood is in the process of being removed as well, as it is also in extremely poor condition (practically crumbles in your hands).

The seats' bolts are rusted on, so I've also put some rust dissolver on those and we'll see if we can't get the seats out sometime this week(end).

Another thing - I'll be learning to weld as I go.

Yeah we want more pics!  I should have my car up and running in another 30 days or so.  Then I can clean up the interior with new seating and panels!

Took the seats out a few days ago, found a few cool 30+-year old knick knacks.

Oddly enough, they're screwed in from the bottom. The nuts on the inside of the seats are actually welded to the frame of the seats, so they used a bolt with threads on either end, screwed that into the seats from the bottom up, and then put on another nut on the bottom of the car.

And I was trying to unscrew the bolts off the seats....
