Untitled Document

Featuring support for Intel's latest 1150 socket and Haswell CPUs, the ASUS Gryphon Z87 is the first micro ATX board that follows their TUF design. Standing for The Ultimate Force, the Gryphon Z87 is built to be military ready using high quality components just like the Sabertooth Z87.

Form Factor     Micro ATX
CPU     Intel LGA1150
Chipset     Intel Z87
Memory     4x 240-pin DDR3 up to 32GB
Expansion Slots
  • 2x PCIe 3.0 x16 slots (x16 or x8/x8)
  • 1x PCIe 2.0 x16 slot(x4 mode max)
  • 1x PCIe 2.0 x1 slot
  • SATA     6 x SATA 6.0 Gb/s (Intel Z87)
  • 6x USB 3.0 ports (2 front panel, 4 rear panel)
  • 8 x USB 2.0 ports (4 front panel, 4 rear panel
  • Audio     Realtek ALC892 8-Channel Audio
    LAN     Intel Gigabit Ethernet

The ASUS Gryphon Z87 comes with a Certificate of Reliability, IO shield, 4x SATA 6G cables, a SLI bridge, User's Manual and a TUF Inside sticker.

The motherboard supports SLI and Crossfire configurations on its PCIe 3.0 slots in x8/x8 mode and up to 32GB of memory in its DIMM slots. The Gryphon Z87 features the same color scheme as the Sabertooth Z87.

    CPU Socket

The ASUS Gryphon Z87 utilizes Black Metallic capacitors, chokes, and MOSFETs that are put through rigorous tests ensuring their reliabilty even under the toughest conditions. These high-quality components offer 5x longer life-spans than compared to regular components.

The DIGI+ Power Control system allows users to precisely tune their memory and CPU voltages in order to get the best and most stable overclocks.

    Gryphon Armor Kit

Available separately, the Gryphon Armor Kit allows the user to install the same Thermal Armor kit that is used on the Sabertooth model onto the Gryphon Z87. It also adds on the TUF Fortifier back shield to protect the motherboard from bending due to the weight of heavy graphics cards and cooling solutions.

    Back IO Ports

The back I/O on the Gryphon Z87 features:

  • 1 x HDMI
  • 1 x DVI-D
  • 1 x LAN (RJ45) port(s)
  • 4 x USB 3.0 (blue)
  • 4 x USB 2.0
  • 1 x Optical S/PDIF out
  • 6 x Audio jack(s)
  • The Gryphon Z87 features USB Charger+ that offers 2x faster charging over USB using an onboard dedicated controller. The included USB 3.0 boost also offers 170% faster transfer rates than compared to traditional USB 3.0.

Although the backs of motherboards are usually hidden, the black PCB of the Gryphon Z87 offers a sleek design. Unlike the Sabertooth Z87, the Gryphon Z87 does not feature a TUF shield.

    Thermal Radar 2

One of the more appealing functions of the Gryphon Z87 is the addition of Thermal Armor 2. ASUS' custom Thermal Radar 2 uses a variety of onboard sensors that allow the user to monitor and adjust fan speeds and temperatures.

    UEFI Bios

ASUS' UEFI bios are considered to be one of the smoothest mouse-controlled bios out there on the market. The EZ Mode easily allows anyone to go into the bios and change whatever settings that may be needed.

The SATA port renaming feature allows you to easily change the name of hard disk drives and solid state drives for better convenience and ease of access.

    AI Suite 3

Offering a clean design, the bundled AI Suite 3 offers an interactive platform where users can check on their overclocks, fan speeds, energy usage and a lot more. This allows you to monitor and control everything from one central area instead of using multiple applications.

If you're looking for a micro ATX motherboard that offers high-quality components and a bundle of great features, the ASUS Gryphon Z87 has everything you need, possibly more. With support for Intel's Haswell architecture and the latest technologies, you really can't go wrong with the Gryphon Z87.
