I recently bought a computer from DS (Stage 5 for them, Stage 8 for me). I also need to get a new monitor though and so i've narrowed my choices down to a couple.

The Dell SP2309w

and

Viewsonic LED

The reason I'm leaning towards the Dell is because it has a 2 ms response time and has a hdmi port. The viewsonic on the other hand is a LED monitor, but lacks a HDMI port and has a 5 ms response time. If you guys have any suggestions I would really appreciate it. I am looking for a 200 (+/- a bit)dollar monitor.

Thanks

well dont get too caught up in the response time as many mfgs tend to be very generous with these numbers since they are reviewing their own product

those are some wierd choices, especially since that dell is 2048x1152, hdmi port doesnt matter, theres no difference between that and hdmi, except that hdmi carries audio, and neither of them have speakers

I figured since the aspect ratio was still 16:9 the 2048x1152 won't matter, but i could be wrong since I'm not too familiar with what aspect ratio really means, and your right about the HDMI port in hindsight.

absolutely not, not to mention this is way out of $200 range, but the tech is brand new, buying now is a great way to end up looking stupid if you ask me. toshiba is already claiming to have tvs that 3d will work with without glasses, if 3d catches on as much as the people marketing it want it too, the price will plummet and you wont need glasses, but that wont be for a while still
as far as the resolution i guess it should be fine assuming you are getting a 480

I've bought two of the 23 inch Dells for my coming rig. I've used them for PS3 and blurays in the meantime and they are beautiful displays. I highly recommend them.

I'm getting a GTX 470. But im probably not going to have dual monitors just yet. I am mostly going to be using it for music mixing, light gaming and movie watching though so i don't think the graphics card is going to be too taxed.

alright, well as long as you are ok playing games below the native resolution, probabaly 1600x900, then it should be fine, it can definitely support desktop applications at that dell's res

SC2 is more taxing than you might think (especially on macs for some reason), so I don't know if you'll be able to run on max settings with the 470, but you'll definitely be able to run it pretty darn high
