Hi so basically I'm already running low on disk space in my computer and I have tons of games that I wanna buy and download specially from sale and so as for the upcoming games throughout 2019. I'm just wondering if I can add or if I am allowed to add a hard disk drive to my pc. Thanks
My system specs: -ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. model H110M-E/M.2 motherboard -intel core i5 6500 -8gb ddr4 2133MHz -600W 80 Plus EVGA/Corsair -Storage (1TB Seagate / Toshiba) -SSD (120GB Digital Storm Performance Series) -Intel Turbo Boost 2.0 Automatic Overclocking |

Yes you can as long as you have an open SATA port on your motherboard. I think that mobo has 4x SATA ports. If you have the HDD, SSD, and an optical drive then you might have one left. You also need a power connector from the power supply. You should have extras in the wiring harness from power supply.
You can also use an external drive that plugs into a USB port. Adding a drive doesn’t effect the warranty. |

Which is more ideal base on your opinion though? I'm scared that if I buy the external hard drive instead i might run into game problems or something

If 1TB will be enough, I'd recommend you look at the Samsung 860 EVO 1TB. It's on sale just now on Amazon for $147. I bought one last summer for $230. I've got 31 games on it, and it's only half full. It is internal, and shouldn't be too hard to install yourself. Just hook it up the same way your other drives are. You'll find the needed wiring behind your motherboard. You have to format the drive in windows before your system will recognize it.
If you decide to go external, make sure you get an SSD. That should be fast enough to supply the input smooth gaming needs. Edited by Cretae - 20 Dec 2018 at 8:05pm |

Alright man thanks for the tip. I was looking forward of buying the seagate 4TB hard drive tho so that I won't bother upgrading or replacing my hard drive sometime in the future. I think 4TB will be perfect enough for my needs. Will a 4TB upgrade work for my pc? (Specs above)

Do I have to worry about the power consumption aka required voltage/watts? Just curious

Drives use very little juice and not worth worrying about. Last I looked, 3-5 watts of usage was typical.
Add what you need and Enjoy. |
