Topic: Do laptops CPUs overheat when PLUGGED-IN? Posted: 15 Aug 2016 at 9:15pm |
I have a question about this laptop. When I got the same one, but from O----------- (big mistake. glad i was able to return it for a full refund minus shipping expenses), it would OVERHEAT when PLUGGED-IN. And by overheating, I mean the CPU would IDLE at 99C and would throttle..... Is that normal for laptops? Would the problem happen with the Avon (since it is basically the same laptop as the EON15-X)?
~~~~~~~ Budget: 3500 Expectations: at least above 30fps on highest graphics settings while streaming Usage: Gaming + Video Editing + Streaming Special Needs: I hope it doesn't overheat... Saved Ticket #: 1471765 Removed competitor's name Edited by Snaike - 16 Aug 2016 at 3:13am |
Laptops have some vents under it and around it and those need to be open for the laptop to breath. For example if you are in bed and you put your laptop directly on the bed with nothing under it, there is a good chance you are chocking the laptop.
Just some info. Now to answer you, if the above is not happening and the laptop has room to breath then no way should your cpu be around 90c idle, that is too hot,sound like the cooler got moved a bit from the cpu. Isn't the 1080m due out in 17th of this month? Edited by DST4ME - 15 Aug 2016 at 11:07pm |
Sorry I should've clarified. Yes the laptop was on a cooling pad on my desk. Whenever I unplug the laptop, the temperatures would go down to normal around the 40 to 50 Celsius range.
Also, I am not buying a laptop until late this month so maybe I can grab the 1080m instead? |
1080m 100% it is suppose to be a beast.
Sorry I misunderstood your question. So when you plug the laptop to the power the cpu would jump to 90c but on battery it was on 50c? that is wack Edited by DST4ME - 15 Aug 2016 at 11:31pm |
I don't how fast they will trickle down to laptops that DS has, I would think it would be quick but that is just pure assumption on my part.
Ya laptops don't work like that, otherwise not too many would sell and most would be returned |
I can't find an official source about the 1080M. Can you link me to your sources? lol
No, laptops are not supposed to be that way. Keep your eyes on the forums for announcements of the 1080m. You might even want to send a message to [email protected] (the 'go-to guy' around here for getting things done) to see if he has any insight on the new cards. |
The cost of buying mobile graphics cards is crazy. If I wanted to upgrade the GTX 680m in my old DS laptop it is around $950 for a new 980m lol.
In a laptop you don't upgrade cpu/gpu most times unless you can find the part for cheap yourself and then install it yourself. Which I have done before but it really was not worth it.
I see censorship. Illuminati confirmed again.
If you go into your power settings you can set the percentage you want your cpu to run in. On battery it must be set much lower which is why it is running so much cooler.. It should be able to run flat out with out going that high so something is definitely wrong there. I would not buy a pc from ********* if they gave me half off.. POS. Competitor's name removed. I'm tracking. I was just curious today at what it would cost me to do it myself, and was like nope. lol Granted my laptop now is only for travel/ deployments (already survived the dust of one deployment to Kuwait). |
