I received my Digital Storm Asus VG248QE with the Nvidia G-Sync kit installed by DS yesterday and my first reaction when a Battlefield 4 game started was startled. I thought my Acer 21 was showing BF4 at its best but I was wrong. The crisp images and vibrant colors were just awesome and I had to stand there for a few moments to take it all in. I played for a couple of hours trying to look for any tearing or stuttering but never seen the first of any. All play was very smooth.
This investment was well worth it as I know DS techs installed and tested the G-Sync Asus 248 and this monitor will be with me for a very long time. The following is a few pictures and a Youtube link of my video with new monitor. The video is edited only by windows movie maker to format it so it wouldn't take 2 hours to upload. It's mostly to show the lack of tearing and stuttering. Even though it does show the beauty of the map there is nothing like the real life experience of nothing between your eyes and the Asus 248 G-Sync. First shots of the box. It arrived without damage and all accessories and documents present.
Sitting at it's new home.
My PC and game vitals: Asus VG248QE monitor with G-Sync @144hz. 3+ year old DigitalStorm PC, Core i7 960 3.2GHz no OC /EVGA LE Intel X58 Chipset 9.3.0.1019/12GB DDR3 1600MHz/ 1000W Power Supply/1x 1TB Hitachi Seagate/1x MSI GF GTX 760 4GB OC Driver ver: 331.82/X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Sound. Game settings all ultra except AA which was turn off ( it just blurs things anyways). Network smoothing at 100%. V-Sync off. Ping in game was 65ms. My aiming needs work or a better mouse or both.. Very nice. Looks great.
I am struggling with the urge/need to upgrade my video card or to simply replace my nearly 4yr old PC with a new one. Pretty sure my GTX480 needs some help, and I am thinking about upgrading to a GTX760, but then, I think, why buy a new card for a 4 yr old comp? What did you previously have for a video card? |

Hi TJS14
This PC started with a 480 then last year I went to a 660ti then this year I upgraded to a 760. I'd like to upgrade within a year but this DS computer is still doing the job so that's why I invested more into it. |

You might want to consider adding a SSD for a boot/programs drive. Modern ones are getting close to maxing out a SATA 6Gpbs bandwidth, but even so you would see a not insignificant increase in boot and load times. |

Hi danjw1
I was just looking at those SSD's in Maximum PC mag and was giving it serious thought but I'd like to wait and go to SSD's when I get a new PC. Then I'd have all new matching equipment or at least that's what I'd feel like it was. |
