Here is my ticket # for the PC I am planning to purchase next week. My question is:
I originally had the video card option set to 1x ATI Radeon HD 5870 1GB. With the 1x NVIDIA GeForce GTX 470 1.2GB (Includes PhysX Technology) option becoming available, is it the better option now? Thanks! Just to reiterate, I will be gaming at 1920x1080 and would like to be able to upgrade in the future (cf/SLI). Edited by Scarlatch - 28 Mar 2010 at 5:54pm |

name the games you mainly play, you could get away with a 470 at that res but depends on the games you play, otherwise you want a 5870 or 480.
you didn't post your ticket number btw. |

Sorry about that! My ticket number is 395111.
I mainly play Team Fortress 2 and LOTRO as well as Warhammer Online. I want to be able to play Star Wars: The Old Republic as well when it comes out at reasonable settings. I can afford the more expensive of the two nVidia cards if necessary. I'm just curious which is the better route to go. Edited by Scarlatch - 28 Mar 2010 at 6:30pm |

that ticket number looks good I think you can use a 470 for those games, but its up to you, 480 or 5870 will be great also, but I think for those games a bit overkill.

I'd stick with the 5870.
With the resolution you play at it will be plenty sufficient. WAR and TF2 really aren't over graphically intense in most cases but you'll be glad to have it when you're in a 200+ man raid on someones keep. Note that keep raids are probably more stressful for your rig than playing Crysis @ very high settings, when I played WAR a year or so ago it wasn't uncommon to go sub 5 FPS during a raid. I really can't justify getting a 470 over a 5870 right now especially when looking at MMO performance. The 480 might net a decent FPS increase but it's up to you if you want shell out the extra $$$ and wait 1+ months for them to be in stock. |

470 cost less and with a little oc can match 5870, thats enough justification for me, not to mention that the 470 gives the lowest price per fps in dx10 and dx9 and matches the 5850 in dx11.
