you mean a twelve core? no time soon, the next cpus in 2011 and 2012 are suppose to be 8 cores and 16 threads.
I did hear something about intel passing out 45 core cpus to some places just as a test to see how the cpus do and how the users like it. |

Awesome! Those are going to be so expensive though and I doubt anyone here (except for you obviously) will be getting them:(

Dodeca-core CPUs themselves are a ways off.
However, dodeca-core computing will be possible soon, I think. The Intel Core i7 980X is a six-core processor, and there supposedly is a particularly special EVGA board coming out, called the W555, search for it. It's supposed to be able to support dual LG1336, meaning that a twelve core, 24 thread computing rig will be possible soon, if you were to double up on 980X's. |

I was just coming back to take about the same thing, ablah beat me to it, so ya you can get the skulltrail mobo that sits 2 cpus, so you can have 2 x 6 core cpu so you have 12 cores and 12 threads, but its not the same as having 12 cores on one cpu.

skulltrail not 1366 socket.
980x not in the dual socket boards, it lacks the dual QPI link.

Meh intel, only reason why anyone is going with intel right now is because they have the best performance per dollar.
I wish it was 2001 (or was it 2002) again with the Athlon64 vs Pentium 4... :D |

And better motherboard chipsets. You don't want to be using SSDs on AMD motherboards for example, the speeds are absolute crap. But for the most part yeah, we just go where the dollar takes us. |
