AT what res boss? metro and crysis will kick your butt at your budget if your res is at 1900 x 1200 or higher.

1920 x 1080
Instead of a 570, I'm looking into buying an asus 560 or sapphire 6950 off newegg and buying a second one quickly down the road, this year most likely. Thoughts? |

AT your res with sli 560 you looking at around 28 fps average, at highest settings and 4xaa. same settings in crysis and you are looking at around 50 fps average.
we can oc them and get close to 570 sli performance, but you will need a bigger psu, the mobo will also need to be changed: Here you go Ticket# 485835 --- $1612 (To see this build click here) Copy of Specifications: Chassis Model: Special Deal Hot Seller - HAF 922 Exterior Finish: - Standard Factory Finish Trim Accents: - Standard Factory Finish Processor: Intel Core i5 2500K 3.30GHz (Unlocked CPU for Extreme Overclocking) (Quad Core) Motherboard: ASUS Sabertooth P67 (Intel P67 Chipset) (Features USB 3.0 and SATA 6Gb/s) System Memory: 4GB DDR3 1600MHz Digital Storm Certified Performance Series (Highly Recommended) (Hand Tested) Power Supply: 1000W Corsair (Dual/Triple/Quad SLI Compatible) Expansion Bay: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 1: Operating System: 1x (1TB Hitachi/Seagate (7200 RPM) (32MB Cache) Set 1 Raid Options: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 2: Multimedia\Data: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 3: Backup\Misc.: - No Thanks Optical Drive 1: DVD-R/RW/CD-R/RW (DVD Writer 24x / CD-Writer 48x) Optical Drive 2: - No Thanks Internet Access: High Speed Network Port (Supports High-Speed Cable / DSL / Network Connections) Video Card: 1x NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti 1GB (Includes PhysX Technology) Add-on Card: - No Thanks Sound Card: Integrated Motherboard Audio Extreme Cooling: AIR: Stage 1: Noctua NH-U12P SE Dual 120mm Fans High Performance Cooler H20 Tube Color:- Not Applicable, I do not have a FrostChill or Sub-Zero LCS Cooling System Selected Chassis Airflow: Standard Factory Chassis Fans Internal Lighting: - No Thanks Enhancements: - No Thanks Chassis Mods: - No Thanks Noise Reduction: - No Thanks Boost Processor: FREE: Overclock the processor between 3.6GHz to 3.9GHz Boost Video Card: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my video card(s) Boost Memory: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my memory Boost OS: - No Thanks, Please do not tweak the services on the operating system Windows OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium (64-Bit Edition) Recovery Tools: Windows Recovery Toolkit (Bundled with Windows 7 CD) Virus Protection: - No Thanks Office: - No Thanks Benchmarking: - No Thanks Install/Test Game: FREE: Hot-selling game with a NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250 or above graphics card Display: - No Thanks Surge Shield: - No Thanks Speakers: - No Thanks Keyboard: - No Thanks Mouse: - No Thanks External Storage: - No Thanks Exclusive T-Shirt: FREE: Digital Storm T-Shirt - Black (Small) Priority Build: - No Thanks, Ship Within 5-15 Business Days After Order Is Successfully Processed Warranty: Life-time Expert Customer Care with 3 Year Limited Warranty Edited by DST4ME - 11 Feb 2011 at 2:52am |

Only thing that really sticks out is the 1000W PSU (well and that blue lighting, but aesthetics can be tweaked later :P) do I REALLY need that much? Everything I've read says 750-850w would be plenty, though I will openly admit my PSU knowledge is rather limited.

IMHO with the high oc you will need to do with both gpus and the oc on the cpu, a 850w hx corsair or higher is best.
You can request that DS uses the 850w HX corsair, but I think the price will come out to be the same as the 1000w, you can always buy the 850w yourself and ship it to DS, see which comes out to be cheaper for you. Also I made some mistakes on my config, its been changed, please go back and look at it now. Edited by DST4ME - 11 Feb 2011 at 3:00am |

I don't plan on OCing very high, I'm a pretty big scardy cat when it comes to stuff like that. Unless I went the asus gtx 560 route (would need to buy off newegg) no excuse to not OC those! Can hit cores of 920-950.

I have never oced one of those but I assume you can hit 900 to 920, pass 920 is where I don't know since I have not oced one.
if you don't oc the gpus then the 750w might be enough, but you still need to change the mobo. Edited by DST4ME - 11 Feb 2011 at 3:12am |

Don't be, the way you OC is raising things just a little then doing a stress test, passes the test, you raise a bit more and repeat test, and you keep going till you get to where you need to be or the test fails, indicating more voltage or that your card can't be oced higher, or the temp is too high, OC on gpu is much easier then cpu, then again SB has made it very easy, so that comment may no longer hold true

My electronics tend to have horrible luck, like my SB mobo will be flawed, ram will die and all that wonderful stuff. It probably would be like putting a giant electric conductor on my head and running around in a thunderstorm. xD

LOL trust me you can't have worst luck then me, but if you do it little by little there is no way to mess things up.

My cellphones routinely decide to keep me on my toes by deleting all my contacts a few times a year My luck with electronics is horrible, my laptop proves that as well, more of a paperweight now. Im sitting in my dorms computer lab at 1:20 AM if that gives you a hint!

LOL I stand by my comment, if you do it right and little by little then nothing can go wrong, now if you don't follow exact directions then I can't blame the hardware for that

Oh I'm quite good at following directions! Otherwise I would have no right to get pissed at the hardware!

Hahahah, well thats good! I know its probably heresy on these forums, but with my budget would building my own be a better option?

Building your own will save you something like $400 or less, but then you have no DS warranty and testing and etc.

Ya most of us can build it ourselves, but who wants to deal with that anymore, unless you got the time and patience for it
I still enjoy putting pcs together for friends and family, but for myself, it seems like I rather kill myself |

Well this will be my first gaming pc! So building does interest me, but I also want it to be perfect! I was planning on an early may buying (here or build) but my laptop being busted bumped it up to early march or now.
I WAS going to have a $1700 budget (taking out my 300 for keyboard and monitor! Mouse purchased), but since I have less time the budget decreased =/ |

Time decided to smack me across the face, I NEED a working computer in my room, and as is I don't.
Question about the lighting in the cases for the pictures! Lets say that haf 922, the lighting is blue. If I get that case am I stuck with blue lighting? |

The lighting is red, and you can always change the 200mm fans to oem red or blue led, keep in mind in the 922 you can add a third 200mm fan to the side, and just like the front and top 200mm fan, it can be led or not.
oem 200mm blue led oem 200mm red led you need to either change them yourself or ask Ds specifically to use those fans for front/top and add one to the side. You said you build your own, I would get these fans and add them myself and save a few dollars. |
