Hey guys,

 I have DSL (my wife wife works for AT&T so we get it really cheap) the hight connection that they offer. The fastest i have gotten to download is 6.5 MB that the max in years.

Is there anything i can do to get more speed out of my DSL? Currectly AT&T does not offer anything faster

Im not a fan of ATT by any means, but I will say that they deliver the speed to me that I pay for.

Just for laughs have you tried hooking your router directly up to where the line from the street enters your house?  I know on a few occasions friends of mine own house wiring has been the problem, so going to the box and using some gator clips or some such is a good way to check.  Also make sure you have them silly little DSL line filters on all the other extensions in your place, it makes a difference.

Yea well i have absolutely no clue where the first jack is. My house is wired pretty terribly and we have like 3 telephone lines we could have but only use one. So it could be anywhere and i have it next to my computer for convinence. But i'm switching to comcast soon and its the same price so it doesn't matter to me.

no not the first jack, but the panel/box where the phone company wire meets your houses wire.

Still as you say it is no longer important since you are moving.  I just hope you enjoy your comcast experience, myself I prefer the consistancy of speed you get with DSL versus the ebb and flow you get with cable modem depending on which of your neighbors is HD porn.

hmm, I have time warner cable and I love it...been a member for 4 yrs now, and the only time its down is when someone wrecks into something, or they are doing maintenance...over 4yrs I would say ive been without internet maybe 25 times or so if that! I had earth-link dsl back when I lived in defiance and I hated it, wasn't nearly as fast as this cable I got now. I just hope that timer warner doesn't create a cap...I watch netflix, listen to rhapsody music, I stream music videos, on top of mmo gaming. Not sure how much bandwidth I use, but sure seams like its alot. Not to mention some of the wow patches can be gigs at a time, and I plain on try rift out and maybe even a few other free to play mmos.

This is why DS 's forums are so great. The feed back is first class. Big%20Smile

Anyway, I'm all about moving up to cable. But since my wife gets the DSL oretty much from free, it hard to pay more for it. I download pretty much at 650kb max depanding what i'm connected too. Its reliable and have really no complaints except I'm ready for someting faster. U-verse is not availble in my area yet, and Im hoping it will be soon!!! I just have been reading was of boosting the connection, but i dont trust the website that are gining the information.

Checked the att website and they changed it and i'm getting some screwy results. A month ago i went to the store and they said we could upgrade to 12mbps and we currently are at 6 even though i said we are getting 2 they said well thats that... So now online it says were getting 3 and we can upgrade to 6... I'm confused. But idc because upload sucks with dsl and i will need it for youtube...

Going for the 15mbps plan so i'll have 3mbps upload

you gets know theres a diffrence between Mb/s and MB/s right? 14 Mb(megabit) is roughly 1.75 MB/s(megabyte).

Not sure how this all calculates out, but ive never had a problem downloading something quick. I download full movies all the time from various sites before they even hit the theater lol

I hate you DST, and I hate the fact that both Verison and ATT have fiber all around the little valley I live in but show no interest of actually coming in with that optical goodness any time soon.

Much better than ATT in my opinion.

fios = fiber optics.

I use it for uploading files to my site so you good people can directly download files from us at KTL with no wait or problems, I share lot of files on the torrent network, I download lot of stuff, etc.
