With the Asus P67 Deluxe mobo is the onboard sound good enough or should i go with a sound card for a gaming rig.
Also which card works best for strictly gaming.

You need to ask this in the hardware section, I'm not a sound expert but the experts say that if sound quality is important to you and you use good headphones you should get a sound card.

To be honest, the on-board sound isn't bad at all. Unless you're hooking up your gaming PC to some high-end speakers or a beefy sound system, the on-board audio will be more than enough.

i would get the computer and if your not happy add a sound card down the road.
