Around the price of that config. Give or take a couple hundred, so probably around 3k-3.4k

Look at this 636610 It is a little over budget but will give you more power with the new cpu and chipset.

I made some tweaks to it. I don't need a blu-ray player. (use my PS3).
636622 I could probably downgrade the Soundcard. I also dropped the size of the HDD from the 160 to the 120. Upped the PSU also. The changes I made brought the price down 20bucks. |

I could not disagree with those builds anymore if I tried.
lets back this up. @tgc-rob, for your res and use the x79 has nothing for you, if you want it you can go with it but we need to change a few things, but just so you know for the res you mentioned and games you mentioned this will max them all out for you, you were on the right track yourself: Here you go Ticket# 636907 --- $3,107 (To see this build click here) Copy of Specifications: Chassis Model: Special Deal Hot Seller - Cooler Master 942 HAF X Exterior Finish: - Standard Factory Finish Trim Accents: - Standard Factory Finish Processor: Intel Core i7 2600K 3.40GHz (Unlocked CPU for Extreme Overclocking) (Quad Core) Motherboard: ASUS P8P67 Deluxe (Intel P67 Chipset) (New & Improved B3 Revision Without SATA 3G Issue) System Memory: 8GB DDR3 1600MHz Digital Storm Certified Performance Series (Highly Recommended) (Hand Tested) Power Supply: 1050W Corsair Pro Silver 1050HX (Dual/Triple/Quad SLI Compatible) Expansion Bay: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 1: Operating System: 1x (120GB Solid State (By: Corsair) (Model: Force GT Series CSSD-F120GBGT-BK) (SATA 6Gbps) Set 1 Raid Options: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 2: Multimedia\Data: 1x (1TB Western Digital Caviar (7200 RPM) (Model: Black Edition) Hard Drive Set 3: Backup\Misc.: - No Thanks Optical Drive 1: DVD-R/RW/CD-R/RW (DVD Writer 24x / CD-Writer 48x) Optical Drive 2: - No Thanks Internet Access: High Speed Network Port (Supports High-Speed Cable / DSL / Network Connections) Video Card: 2x SLI Dual (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570 1.2GB (Includes PhysX Tech) (EVGA Edition) Add-on Card: - No Thanks Sound Card: Creative Labs X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Professional Extreme Cooling: AIR: Stage 2: Corsair A70 Dual 120mm Fans High Performance Cooler H20 Tube Color:- Not Applicable, I do not have a FrostChill or Sub-Zero LCS Cooling System Selected Chassis Airflow: Standard Factory Chassis Fans Internal Lighting: - No Thanks Enhancements: - No Thanks Chassis Mods: - No Thanks Noise Reduction: - No Thanks LaserMark: - No Thanks Boost Processor: Stage 2: Overclock CPU 4.5GHz to 4.8GHz (Requires Pro or Deluxe Series Motherboard) Boost Video Card: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my video card(s) Boost Memory: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my memory Boost OS: - No Thanks, Please do not tweak the services on the operating system Windows OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Professional (64-Bit Edition) Recovery Tools: Windows Recovery Toolkit (Bundled with Windows 7 CD) Virus Protection: - No Thanks Office: - No Thanks Game: - No Thanks Display: - No Thanks Surge Shield: - No Thanks Speakers: - No Thanks Keyboard: - No Thanks Mouse: - No Thanks External Storage: - No Thanks Exclusive T-Shirt: FREE: Digital Storm T-Shirt - Black (Extra Large) Priority Build: - No Thanks, Ship Within 5-15 Business Days After Order Is Successfully Processed Warranty: Life-time Expert Customer Care with 3 Year Limited Warranty Ask DS specifically for this fan to be added to the top, so you endup with 4 x 200mm fans: haf 200mm non led fan Ask for vcore lower then 1.4 for your oc. Thanks DST.
Out of curiosity IF I were to get the x79, what would you recommend for a build and a monitor that would 'use' it (I'm sure you could put together something a tad cheaper than I did). I want to know all the options before I make a final purchase. LOL Hopefully it will last about 4-5 years at this rate, with a few upgrades. Thanks all for the inputs! |

I was looking at a upgrade point. If everything gos to plan the x79 will work with Iry Bridge. That is the reason I put in the x79.

DST I think you forgot to change the SSD to the Intel 320 series. Or did you purposely keep the corsair force GT in the build?

@hotshot146, ivybridge midend works in p67/z68 and the highend is rumored to work in x79, however until we see the cpu and their performance it does not really matter.
@tgc-rob, you don't build the monitor around the pc, you build the pc around the monitor. unless you want to drop over $1000 in monitor you have no need for x79. as for lasting, no matter what platform you go with it will last for over 5 years, we recommend gpu upgrade once every 2 years to keep the pc feeling powerful in gaming. @kane860, I left it, but I forgot to mention to him that the 320 has the best track record so far, thanks for catching that Edited by DST4ME - 28 Dec 2011 at 4:13pm |
