Hey all,

I'm trying to help a buddy sell his gaming rig. Its something I honestly have no experience with, as I don't think I've ever sold a computer before. Especially one like his that has a lot of value left in it.

Anyways, it just got me to thinking, what do you all do when your rigs bite the dust? It doesn't have to be a gaming rig, just computers in general.

In the past, I used to use them for target practice (I'm pretty sure there is a video somewhere on these forums of a user doing just hat). But, I figured that was pretty wasteful, so anymore I either give them away to people who can use them (which isn't common, as I tend to run my rigs to the point of being unusable), or I recycle them.

What do you do when you send your computers to the great beyond? Big%20Smile

I used to hand them down to one of my sons, but they're older now and don't want Dad's junk.  LOL

Now, my old Dell is used by my wife for surfing, mahjong, etc.  I have been known to  keep an old video card for troubleshooting purposes, but for the most part I just chuck them.  Not very usable by the time I'm finished.  Big%20Smile

well my XPS 720 is about 8 years old with lots of upgrades, I will donate it to Goodwill, but sell the 6950 graphics card separately if there's a market for it.

My Dell XPS case is the size of the HAF-X aka Dreadnought.

Funny, I have exatly that.  An old XPS 720 and a new Dreadnought.  I am still contemplating what to do with that old Dell.  It actually is still a pretty fair computer.

My old pc will be my daughters PC in a year or so, right now my wife uses it when she wants a break from the new laptop I bought for her.

Ha, my old machine was an XPS 720 Red.  In fact, I just pulled the hard drives out of the 720 last night and put in my system to get some files off of it.

I've sold all of my old computers on CraigsList. If you have the time and ambition, people will buy individual parts if you choose to strip it down, but I'm usually happy to simply get rid of the thing. Goodwill (not a non-profit, btw) will also take them as e-waste.

With kids and grandkids you always got someone to give your old stuff to.

We are going to look into Craigslist, I admittedly have little experience with it (But lots with Freecycle).
