Have been using my Digital Storm machine practically every day since buying it in early 2012, and haven't had a single problem with it.

That being said, I was hoping to get some advice on GPU upgrades for it in the upcoming months.

It currently has a GTX570, and would like to know what my options are for replacing it given the ODE's motherboard (Asus P8Z68-V LE).

Thanks,
Manuel

That mobo can take any of the cards out there.  Depends on your budget, but the gtx 770 is a nice way to go.   It'll give you almost double your fps in a lot of games.
The gtx 760 is also a big step up.

The mobo is a Pcie 2.0 and new cards are 3.0, but no issues or loss of performance.

Thank you very much for the feedback! It's reassuring to hear that the mobo can handle the 770.

any concerns about the PSU? not sure if the power requirements between the 570 and the 770 are that much different.

A 600 watt psu is what they recommend as a minimum.

Go big or go home. Buy a GTX 780 Ti (for $699).   It will support PCI-e 2.0. No card truly utilize the bandwidth and lanes available in 16x PCI-e 3.0 anyways. You might notice 1-2 fps lower in a 2.0 than a 3.0.  But that 780 Ti will destroy your 570.

What size is your power supply? The GTX 770 is a great card that will be able to run most games on ultra/high at 1080p.

Sorry Nav, for whatever reason, I didn't get a notification when you replied.

PSU is a 600W Corsair CX600 V2.

The GTX 570 and 770 draw similar amounts of power, the power supply should be fine!

I held off on buying a 770, and today nvidia announced the gtx 750ti.

now I'm debating which of the two makes more sense. :(

The 750ti is a small increase in gaming performance over the gtx 570, if at all,   but easier on the psu but the gtx 770 is a huge difference in performance over the gtx 570.

If the 570 is working fine, I'm not sure the 750ti is worth the upgrade. But, it still games just fine.

The 750 Ti is a great card for its market niche, but with the 570 already in play, I'd stick by the recommendation to go with the 770. You'll have no issues at all with that PSU.

so about a year after my original post, and Nvidia have announced the 970 and 980.

Any kind souls around who could confirm if either of those two GPU's would work on my ODE v1 (600W Corsair CX600 V2 PSU and Asus P8Z68-V LE motherboard)?

Either will work just fine.   That v2 psu has less amps on the 12v rail than the newer version, 40amp vs46 amp, but still plenty of juice. Your gtx 570 is using more than the 970/980 would. And, your gtx 570 uses the same 2x 6 pin power connector, so just a swap out.

Good luck.

Both of those cards are simply amazing. Especially given the amount of power they require. Then are benchmarks out showing 4 way sli GTX 980's not even breaking 500 watts of power after overclocking.

Really at this point, the decision is whether to plunk down the extra cash on the 980 over the 970.

May need to give it a few months yet, but pretty happy at this upgrade path.

Black Friday and Cyber Monday coming up. I doubt you'll see any $100 offer on a 980... but game bundles should be coming with the holidays... free expedited shipping, and so on from places like newegg. So waiting might be worth it. Good bundles and prices literally within the next month.

Ended up picking up a GTX970 that I'm pleased with. No problems with it so far.

But now the issue I'm running into is the front case fan has stopped working. The top one had also stopped working but after replacing it, it's back up and running.

The front case fan I've replaced as well, but it's at 0 rpm.

*sigh*

How are upgrade prices calculated? I have a blown rampage iv motherboard being sent in for warrenty, but was considering going for a x99 deluxe with a new CPU. Do I just add up the component prices posted in the Configurator?

I believe upgrades covers the labor only.  You pay for shipping both ways and for the parts.   I'd be surprised if they gave you credit for an older part toward a new one.

DS will know for sure.  Alex might be by later to answer.

Lifetime labor free upgrades is part of the sales pitch on the hailstorm II i bought. Just wondering if anyone has had some experience with "upgrades" in the past. Just paid to have it sent in due to a bad motherboard. This computer and I are not having fun together at all.

You will have to pay the full price of the new hardware. We won't change you any extra labor fees to remove hardware, add new hardware, etc... We don't charge for labor, just the parts. At some computer stores, I'm sure you know, you'll end up paying a ton in labor, such as $60/hour to remove hardware (takes an hour) and another hour to install it back.

Oh oh. What is considered "full price". And how do I get a number? Do I use the the parts costs on the hailstorm II now? Like for a new motherboard & CPU? Or Titian X 12 GB?
