Hello, I'm looking for a new desktop that can run all (or most) of the new high-expectation games. my budget is sitting at about 1500 (maybe more with some convincing) and i need something to last me. I'll be burning DVDs, playing some hardcore games, and using quite a few programs. OS doesn't matter to me, as long as i have one that works.

i think that was about enough info... i suck at builds, so i was hoping someone could show me better.

A default special vs. one that i made

the custom one there gets the extra 100 or some dollars off once i hit buy, but the special one has some great features.

I suck at choosing >_<

speaking of video cards, a friend of mine is saying that the 9800 GX2 is better than the GTX 280, true?

on paper they have the some of the same numbers, but the 9800 does not have the bandwidth of the 280 and in tests, the 280's Nvidia competetion has been only the 260.

the texture fill rate is higher on the 9800, but the memory bandwidth is noticeably higher on the 280...

P.S. my budget is now raised to 2300, cuz i just sold my old desktop... all i have is my laptop now, and will i need a new monitor for my desktop? or just an adapter for my old one?
