Budget:
The maximum I'd like to spend is $2500, but I'd prefer to keep it around $2000 if possible.

Expectations:
I currently play Final Fantasy XIV, League of Legends, and World of Warcraft. I'd like to be able to run those on the highest settings at 1080p. I also pretty much always have 20+ tabs of chrome open and I watch streams constantly I currently use two monitors (one for gaming and the other for web browsing and stuff).

Usage:
At least 50-60 hours of gaming/week.

Special Needs:
I'm not really sure what a SSD does but I'm guessing I'll want one lol. I would like a 2TB HDD though. I will not be editing photos or rendering any videos. Pretty much just gaming and web browsing. The environment is roughly 70-75F.

I looked at some of the prebuilt ones, but I have no idea where to start. I don't really know anything about gaming computers so any help would be appreciated.
Also my current monitors are 60hz but I'm going to get 2 144hz monitors. I'm not sure if that changes anything, but I'd like to max the fps out if I can. Thank you

Hi Cynegetic.. For your budget and needs, one of the Vanquish 5 selections are great.   They are best bang for the buck on tighter budgets.     The level 3 Best and its gtx 1070 Is the card for a 1080p monitor.

For streaming while gaming, the level 4 with the new AMD Ryzen with its extra cores might be worth a look.   I would get the 1700k for its extra clock speed over the 1700.    I don't stream but believe the extra cores would help.   You can select the gtx 1070 instead of the default gtx 1080

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your response. I don't actually stream, I just watch them.

What build would you suggest for gaming on a 1440p monitor?

A gtx 1070 will play most games just fine on a 1440p, but if in the budget, the gtx 1080 gives you more certainty with some of the heavier shooters, etc.   Either work.

Okay thank you. Could you recommend me a build that uses the 1080? All the pre-built with the 1080 seem to use Ryzen but I think I'd prefer Intel. I'm not really sure

You do want the SSD as primary drive for loading Windows and any games you're using the most.

I went with the 2TB Western Digital HDD for a little more $$, it being a better drive.

You don't need the extra Boost Processor, the cpu overclock, since the 7700k has a nice 4.5 Ghz Turbo boost.

This stays right at your wished for budget.  Big%20Smile

Good Luck. Big%20Smile

Thanks!!
I decided to change the SSD to 480GB and lowered the secondary drive to 1TB (don't think I need 2TB)

Do I need to overclock anything for gaming at 1440p? I just don't know if it's needed. Thanks again.

You don't need overclocking, the 7700k is up there in speed, plus DS will only give you up to 4.4 and the CPU is 4.5, so you're good to go.

It's in stage 6!
Is it safe to have my computer on carpet though? The thought never occurred to me.

I believe that besides the extra dust bunnies and more cleaning- should not be an issue. Remember- if you are touching items within your case to ground your self either via a static wrist band or touching metal before working on the pc

The power supply has an intake fan on the bottom.  Make sure you have enough space for airflow.

Your fans will pick up a lot more dust sitting on the carpet then if you had it 1 foot or two higher.

I wouldn't set it directly on the carpet either.
The PSU intake, like bprat mentioned, is on the bottom. Besides, the various dust mites and stuff that pop up as we walk around would actually cause more cleaning to be needed. Try to get it at least a few inches off the ground if you can.

Okay, I got a stand to put it on.
Umm I'm kind of confused though.
My older computer had a HD 6950 and I used DVI for 2 monitors but the 1080 only has one DVI slot? Or am I dumb lol? So my question is how do I set up 2 monitors (1440p)?

If the gtx 1080 has a single DVI, HDMI and a couple of DisplayPorts you'll need to get a DVI to Hdmi or DP adapter for the second monitor.

There's a picture of the back. Does that help? Sorry I'm not really sure what I'm doing.

Oh and both my monitors have HDMI, DVI and Display Port inputs (if that helps)

What's showing is the DVI on the bottom and HDMI on the top, second from the right.   The other three ports have plastic caps you can remove and probably have DP under them.

If your monitors can use. DVI or Hdmi, then just use those cables that match, one monitor running DVI and the other HDMI.

The DP ports are what you want for 4K or lower.

Ohhh I didn't realize I can remove those black cap things. Wow lol. Yeah, they do have DP under them.

Since I can use all of the cables should I just only use DP? I'm not sure which ones are the best (or if they're the same).

And thanks so much. I was wondering what those black things were but didn't want to break anything lol

Congratulations. Use DP. Those covers confuse a lot of people. Enjoy.
