How's it going finally waited out till the new pascal cards came out, don't have much patience left. I don't know what to do, should I just go with an apollo with a 1070 or wait out to get a non reference 1080? Also is the 5820k the same or worse than a 6800k, thanks appreciate it.

Depends what your gaming on.  If its a 1080p monitor, then the gtx 1070 is all you need.  If you want to render a 1440p or above,  the gtx 1080 will give you more consistent 60fps and above on max settings.

The non reference cards, both 1070 and 1080, will have better coolers, usually better boards and components and cheaper, supposedly.

The 6800k is basically a newer 5820k, with its 28 lanes of pcie.  IMHO, not worth it for the 6800k for most.

Newegg is showing MSI, etc cards now, but no surprise, everything is out of stock.   Looks like going with a builder is the only way to get one, and those are Founders Editions, meaning reference.

My guess is a month before things settle down. But, just a guess.

if you plan on overclocking these new cards in the slightest you'd better get a non-reference card, or a reference card w/liquid cooling, or you'll see thermal throttling for sure.

I would not worry about ocing the gpus, but I would wait for the non-reference card. But db188 is correct if you want to oc the reference card you need better cooling.

Don't get a gpu because that is what you wanted, get the gpu that gives you the power you need. Do follow what bp22 says adn see what you need. IF you go with one gpu and endup not getting enough power you can oc the gpu and see if it gives me meaningful fps to keep the oc.

there's the MSI Seahawk, Asus Strix, EVGA Hybrid, etc. all with better coolers than the reference card.  you can have DS special order them or wait and see what they get in stock, or even get one yourself and either send it to them or install yourself.

Would I still have to pay for the default graphics card, if I bought my own and sent it to DS? But then again, I doubt I can even buy a non reference card before DS gets their own lol. Thanks again.

Send a note to [email protected] .... he's the head sales guy, he'll probably have a good idea on what they can get / do to help you out.

These cards are getting sold out within minutes, trying to get both the 1070 and 1080, still no luck sadly.
