Your psu is pure overkill = pure waste of money

I hope you have a 20amp socket to plug that into otherwise you are in for a very bad surprise.

Is this for gaming? what are you gonna do with 4 extremal hdds? I'm a power user and after 10 years I still don't have that much stuff.

Gaming has zero use for 32gb of ram, I can come and take out half of that out without you knowing and you will never notice the difference, ever, never, ever, never.

instead of that waste get the highest warranty you can get.

Also judging by your build you gonna wanna wait for the 3rd party 1080s.

give me the ticket number for that build please, before I jump off the balcony.

Awesome. Thank you....
Yeah, I don't know why, but for some apparent reason I assume that I need the 'biggest' and most expensive parts or hardware. I used to build all my PCs myself, but I've been out of the loop for about 6 yrs, so I decided to go the way of a custom build by a company like Digital Storm. And just like I told the sales rep from DS, I am ordering from DS/Digital Storm because out of all the reviews I have read for the past few yrs, DS is well respected and the customer support is second to none.

Having said all of that, I am learning that just because a piece of hardware is the most expensive or has 'more' of something else, doesn't mean it is better.

You've helped me grasp that, DST4ME. :) Thank you.

I had always thought that the more system RAM, the better. And from everything I've read the past few days, more RAM doesn't always equal better performance.

The PC I am ordering will be for gaming mostly, but I will also be using it to store and record data from my telescope. I am an amatuer astronomer. So, I will be storing videos and/or images I have taken of stars, planets, asteroids, comets etc. But here again, I may just buy a high-end laptop for all of that because I will be connecting the Laptop/Computer to the telescope which are outside of my home. So yeah...., this desktop will be used for gaming 90% of the time. :)

I appreciate all of the input, man. We sure do have a great, and a sincere caring, community here at Digital Storm.

Thanks!!! :D

Fantastic, pad yourself in the back, its not about the most expensive its about the max power you need/will use.

if you think you might upgrade gpu later to sli titan or something then pic the corsair 1200w psu to be on teh safe side with the oc and all.

My pleasure and good luck

One more thing....

Considering I won't be messing with much of the PC's hardware (ie - overclocking, etc.), is there much of a difference between the these two Mobo's??

**ASUS X99 RAMPAGE V USB 3.1 (Intel X99 Chipset) (Up to 4x PCI-E Devices)

VS.

**ASUS X99 RAMPAGE V EDITION 10 (Intel X99 Chipset) (Up to 4x PCI-E Devices) (RGB Lighting)

One thing I do, and am looking for, is the ability to upgrade down the road a few yrs. I am not one to build a new PC every year or two or three. But, I AM one who would, and will be, upgrading the video card every year or two depending on when the cards comes out. I will upgrade the CPU too if I feel it will give me the boost I am looking for or crave.

And money is of no concern, so that won't be added to the equation when I upgrade or rebuild.

Thanks again!! lol... :D

Most likely you won't be able to upgrade the cpu to a new line/family, its not like the old days anymore, once a socket comes out you got about one or two family on it at best. The cpu would need an upgrade in about 4 years I would say, by that time the new cpu probably won't fit your socket.

gpu upgrade manybe every 2 years is a good idea maybe 3.

lets see the rampage 10 is pretty much an upgrade to the other one, it has a few more things the other one does not, like supporting more ram, pci features related to storage and some other extras in lan, wireless etc.

Cool.
Yeah, I am going with the later. To upgrade from the Digital Storm set-up to the Edition 10 isn't that much. I will be going with that one. ;)

DST4ME - I HOPE Digital Storm is seeing these posts I've written and the comments you've made because if you weren't here helping me understand the new standards and/or 'needs' of my next PC, I would have most likely went/moved on (but disappointed) to another custom built PC by a DS competitor. (DTS4ME deserves a rebate one something, lol. He just saved a concrete customer (Me) from spending thousands of dollars somewhere else. :D

But I will share with you guys this -----> out of all of the Custom built PCs I've researched online, Digital Storm is, By Far, the better choice. From customer service to the quality of hardware used in their PCs, Digital Storm is honestly on top of them all. ;) :)

Thanks I'm sure Alex is seeing all of the stuff on the forum.

I'm a customer like you and because I like how DS does business I stick around and help others get their money's worth, I've been away myself for a few years to be honest with you and other great members have been taking care of the new guys like yourself.

I'm sure Alex will be happy to hear how much you like DS.
but he is not gonna like the fact that I talked you into a pc that cost less

Ha Ha Haha...

DST4ME -

I'll keep you updated on my Config., order and other things regarding this system I'm building (figuratively, lol).

"Other Things" meaning -
**Monitor
**Keyboard/Mouse
**Sound System (ie. Audio card, Speakers, ect.)

In regards to a PC monitor -
I am going no bigger than 27in, and I am going no smaller than 24in. When I decide on a PC monitor, the following factors are in-play:

---------------------------------------------------------------
**at least 1440p, unless it's a 24in monitor. If that being the case I would go to 1080p resolution.
**G-sync (I've done quite a bit of research on this option and it appears that most people who go with nVidia G-Sync are very pleased with it and confirm that there is a noticeable difference.
**144MHz (or anything above 100MHz, but 144 is top priority)
**IPS screen (TN screens are fine too, but 144 is where I'd like to be).
**4K isn't a big deal for me at the moment. I've yet to game on a 4k PC gaming Monitor, but many agree 1440p on a 27in screen is just as good or better in some instances.
---------------------------------------------------------------

I will add more info on what hardware I am leaning towards with this build. My goal is not to be the best or fastest or most expensive PC. Also, I am not an 'Over-Clocker' like many here are; And who are always wanting a fast or faster PC to brag/boast about. While I do OC to a degree, I do not push the issue to claim bragging rights, lol. I just wanted to get that out there so those who are helping me here at Digital Storm can/will understand what I want or need out of this PC I am highly considering to purchase. :)

LOL.....I hope this comment is understood haha.

Keep us upto date for sure, that would be great

For monitor go with what you like, I'm a 30" type myself, but to each his own, its your system get what you want/like.

just remember to ignore response time and contrast ratio, they are bogus numbers and not even comparable from one set to the other due to different methods.

As for oc I would only do the cpu, if you notice I picked stage 1 oc for you as to not push oc to hard/high.

I don't think anybody here really brags about their oc, they might try to top eachother here and there for fun for a short time but everybody here knows that oc is a bit different from chip to chip, no 2 chips are exactly alike, one can oc well and the other one could suck, then there is the temp, which your ambient temp will play a big role in and that is different from place to place, so ya I don't think you will find braggers here, everybody knows the only place to brag about the oc is at a reputable oc contest kinda like this one

I dunno, DST4ME, I'm pretty sure Alex would be more stoked about having another happy satisfied customer getting exactly what he wants than the price difference between the two systems.

if you're still looking for a monitor, i've been playing with my new Acer Predator XB271HU and so far it's fantastic.

27" IPS
144Hz (native)/165Hz with overdrive
G-Sync
ULMB (when not using G-Sync)

my particular unit has ZERO back light bleed and ZERO stuck/dead pixels.  even the notorious "IPS Glow" is barely noticeable on a completely dark screen.  either i got extremely lucky with this unit, or Acer has worked out the kinks from their first run production units.  build quality is amazing.   for all intents and purposes this thing is 3-sided "bezel-less".  it's really a beautiful screen.

here are some images:

that vertical light (upper right second image) is from a windowed door behind and to the right of me where the Roman shade doesn't quite keep out sunlight from around the edges, and NOT coming from the monitor.
