Hey guys: My seven year old DS is on the wane so I'm looking at a new one. $$: around 2,000$ Use: Gaming--FPS and MMO. Play w/o concern at max settings. Screen: 1080/60--it's old. May upgrade in the future, but not for awhile Configuration Code: 1786250 Total Price with Instant Savings: $2,181.00 Direct Load URL: https://www.digitalstorm.com/configurator.asp?id=1786250 Specifications: Chassis Model: Corsair Carbide Quiet 600Q
Exterior Finish: - Standard Factory Finish Trim Accents: - Standard Factory Finish Processor: Intel Core i7-7700K 4.2 GHz (Codename Kaby Lake) (Unlocked CPU) (Quad Core) Motherboard: MSI Z270 GAMING PRO CARBON (Intel Z270 Chipset) (Up to 3x PCI-E Devices)
System Memory: 16GB DDR4 3000MHz Digital Storm Performance Series Power Supply: 1000W EVGA SuperNOVA G2 Expansion Bay: - No Thanks Optical Drive: DVD-R/RW/CD-R/RW (DVD Writer 24x / CD-Writer 48x) (Internal) Storage Set 1: 1x SSD M.2 (500GB Samsung 960 EVO) (NVM Express)
Storage Set 2: 1x Storage (2TB Seagate / Toshiba) Storage Set 3: - No Thanks RAID Config: - No Thanks RAID Card: - No Thanks Internet Access: High Speed Network Port (Supports High-Speed Cable / DSL / Network Connections) Graphics Card(s): 1x GeForce GTX 1070 8GB (VR Ready) Sound Card: Integrated Motherboard Audio HPC Processor: - No Thanks Extreme Cooling: AIR: Stage 1: High-Performance Copper Heat Pipe Cooler
HydroLux Tubing Style: - Not Applicable, I do not have a custom HydroLux liquid cooling system selected HydroLux Fluid Color: - Not Applicable, I do not have a custom HydroLux liquid cooling system selected Cable Management: Premium Cable Management (Strategically Routed & Organized for Airflow) Chassis Fans: Standard Factory Chassis Fans Internal Lighting: - No Thanks Airflow Control: - No Thanks Chassis Mods: - No Thanks Noise Reduction: - No Thanks LaserMark: - No Thanks Boost Processor: Stock Factory Turbo Boost Advanced Automatic Overclocking Boost Graphics Card(s): - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my video card(s) Boost OS: - No Thanks, Please do not tweak the services on the operating system Windows OS: Microsoft Windows 10 Home (64-Bit Edition) Recovery Tools: Windows 10 Installation CD Only (Clean Install with No Drivers) Virus Protection: FREE: McAfee AntiVirus Plus (1 Year Service Activation Card) (Not Pre-installed) ($35 Value) Office: - No Thanks Game: - No Thanks Display: - No Thanks Surge Shield: - No Thanks Speakers: - No Thanks Keyboard: - No Thanks Mouse: - No Thanks Branded Gear: - No Thanks Priority Build: - No Thanks, Ship Within 10-15 Business Days After Order Is Successfully Processed Warranty: Life-time Expert Care with 4 Year Limited Warranty (4 Year Labor & 2 Year Part Replacement)-Concerns: Must be quiet; Must be upgradeable Key Questions: 1. Case: Thoughts on the "quiet case"? I do remember reading somewhere that you have to be careful what GPU design you use with this case because of ventilation. I may want to upgrade to 1070ti or 1080 2. MOBO: Just choose a popular selection. I don't know if I'll need SLI or not 3. PSU: 1000w On sale, of course, but I curious about power usage compared to a lower w model. 4. Choose the 7700k because I don't think I'll need the extra cores. 5. Cooling. I had the Cors H110iGT until I read reviews and saw quite a few instances of power failure and loud fans under load. THis combined with the common comments that it will require maintenance has made me wonder if I really need H2O. Thoughts on these concerns? Additional comments? Thanks! |

1. Most noise doesn't come from the case. It comes from gpu or cooler fans. Case won't make a noticeable difference here.
2. Go with the "h" mobo it has a better track record here 3. 750 is all you need but 1000w is on sale 4. For gaming you won't but it will help with power down the road 5. You need good cooling, unfortunately they don't offer noctua so newer version h115i is the way to go. 6. Have you looked at vanquish? Much cheaper and 6 core but not all choices we have here 7. For your res stick with 1070 or 1070 ti no need to upgrade to 1080 ti from 1070 Edited by DST4ME - 27 Nov 2017 at 2:00pm |

I've gone with 8700k and the ASUS Rog Strix Z370-H.
Sticking with the Corsair case ftm. Having a problem committing to the Corsair water cooling. If I just got the regular air cool package, can you (or anyone) suggest a proper air cooler if I decide to OC? I'm assuming Noctura. Thanks for you feedback |

Noctua will match h115i for most part.
Our pleasure |
