[Wall of Text] crits you for 87907097690. You die!
Ok... Basically this is just a pre review with pics and a brief description of my experience thus far!
First of all let me tell you alittle something about playing the waiting game, It was freaking brutal! I was fine up until I hit about stage 6, thats when I really started to get antsy and anxious. I dealt with the feelings by telling myself its gonna be all worth it.. Hang in there buddy!
So...The pc arrived via fedex at about 12:17 PM, soon as I heard the truck I was at the door to greet him before he could even ring the door bell. What happens next is shocking! I kid I kid..... the fedex driver commented on how heavy the package was, smiled and had me sign. At this point I could hardly even steady my arm long enough to sign.
By this time im nearly dancing around in excitement...But I was able to calm myself, so I began the process of ever so carefully unpacking the beast. My Inital thought was wow, What amazing packaging. I thought if this is the way they pack stuff then I can't wait to see the pc.
I finally finished unpacking the pc, Foam after foam afte foam. Underneath all this foam i finally revealed what I had been anxiously waiting for. My jaw nearly dropped when I seen how cool the case looked, slick black with a discrete yet professional look. At this point im thinking yep.... You really scored big here John.. Good one!
After I had finished drooling all over the pc I figured it was time to get down to business and plug it in.. I started to panic because I couldn't quite remember seeing any power cords.. I calmed myself and found the little white box that I had misplaced (like a moron) and there it was! Sitting ever so nicely amongst a fiesta of other cords/wires that Ive never seen. I quickly snatched the power cord and headed straight for the pc.
I finally got it plugged in and all the sudden, I start hearing this distinct sound, almost sounded like a kid riding by my house with baseball cards in his spokes. I quickly unplugged the pc in fear that some damage may have occured upon its arrival. I then opened the case via the thumb screws, peaked in and found the culprit. It was the green wire that goes to the fans that I had DS mount on the viewable glass lol... Phew!!! I thought to myself, that was a close one. I then proceeded to do some cable management of my own, I grasped the wire with my hand and moved it... lol.. Ok so I didn't do any cable management, but I did move a wire.
After my so called cable managment was done, I grabbed the camera and snapped some real quick shots, so forgive the craptastic pic quality. Ok.. by now I know what you all are thinking.. ST*U and post some GD PICS lol... Here they are! I plan on posting benchmark/temps at a later date. Enjoy!

For LC rigs how hard is it to add fluid when the time comes? Is there a cap like on a radiator to add fluid?
Thanks

there is a little reservoir that is velcroed inside, you take it off the velcro, open the cap and add liquid, close cap and then put it back.
as you see its very complex make sure its always around the level its at now. Edited by DST4ME - 16 Jan 2009 at 8:03pm |

Very cool. I also take it LC is quieter than fans? Or am I mistaken on that one?

So, I was able to recover the 4.0ghz oc on the cpu.
But... vista is saying i only have 4gigs of ram..
I ended up calling and talking to randy and it turns out I gotta wait til monday to get to the bottom of it.
Unless someone here has some ideas, I already made sure the ram was well seated and flashed bios and rebooted a couple times.
Bios and vista both claim 4gigs and cpu-z is saying ive got 6gigs, im lost.

asus has a feature called memory remapping or mapping, look for it and make sure its enabled and lets see if that does it.

lets try that also looks like tweaktown does not like people hotlinking their images.
instead save that pic to the desktop and then upload it here http://tinypic.com/then post copy and paste the "IMG Code for Forums & Message Boards" here |

I came across a very interesting thread, its about how different voltage settings on the R2E dictate how much ram vista will actually see. The more i think about it, the more i feel like its the culprit.... because when the settings were at stock my mobo was detecting all 6gigs, when i changed settings with Randy over the phone it went to 4 and he had me change another it went to 2 and then he had to go.
If this can't be fixed then DS will be getting the pc back to swap mobos..
I haven't heard anything like this happen with the x58

were you changing ram settings?
if that is what happened then I think you should wait and talk to randy or duke, just stop everything right now and leave the ram in teh blue slots. there is no reason for us to trouble shoot, sounds like its the settings that needs to be changes and for your warranty's sake, its best we let DS do all that |

worst case leave a message for them to call you back.
I wonder if its just a bug cause cpu-z sees your 6GB but the thing is that the bios is not seeing it, lets see what it is. |

Thanks! Well, I booted up just now for the first time today and windows vista is showing only 2gigs of ram. Im almost positive that it has something to do with the voltage settings in the bios. I guess we will find out monday what the problem is exactly..
