Budget:
Up to $7,000

I am looking for advice and recommendations on putting together a gaming PC that can play games on the highest graphics settings with the fastest load screens (Fallout 4 will be my first purchase)... I am tired of slow load times on my Xbox One so am moving to PC. Once I have this PC I would like to be able to upgrade it in the future, piece by piece with help from friends. It will be used purely for gaming, with a little bit of movie viewing.

I was looking at the Bolt 3. It will go in my living room and hook up to a projector via HDMI. I hope to use an Xbox One controller with this PC. I would also need to connect it to my Wifi.

I would prefer to stay below seven thousand dollars. Oh- and I hope to do a lot of VR as well.

Thanks for your help! I really appreciate it, and am excited to move to PC gaming!

$4.2K - change the fluid color to your preference. You may want to look at separately getting an Xbox One Elite controller with wireless USB adapter. For a wireless gaming mouse, take a look at the Logitech G900 Chaos Spectrum. Not sure if there are any keyboards specifically make for low latency wireless operation, yet.

Thanks for your advice! I'm such a noob still when it comes to building computers so please excuse my ignorance: I see with the processors you can get up to 10 cores... is that meant for people that are doing more creative work with a lot of rendering? Do more cores mean better performance for gaming? I see you recommend a processor with the quad core.

Also is there any advantage to getting more than 16 GB of RAM?

Thanks again! I really appreciate the advice!

for the ram find out which one has the better timings and go with that, I just chose the 3000MHz for the heck of it.

even 6 and 8 core procs are targeting the low end of the prosumer market.  games of today just don't take advantage of the the extra cores.  you're better off with faster cores.

it's a similar situation with system memory.  editing/rendering work absolutely take advantage of more GB, but even the most demanding game titles don't recommend more than 16GB.

money is better spent on a graphics card.  also, a fast ssd can help with level loading times in games depending on how the developer does it.

The higher you go in res the less the cpu is involoved, tho there are a handfull of games that do still use cpu, but for most parts new faster gen quad core is better then old gen 6 core for gaming.

For other stuff that is a different story.
