Has anyone done this? What are the temperature differences you're seeing?

My main concern is the GPU dumping too much heat into the case heating up the RAM, power delivery, and storage devices. I have the fans on the radiator set to be very quiet and rarely break 45 C when idle during the summer with no air conditioning on. As an example it's 25 C outside today with windows open and the system is at these temps:

CPU Package: 33C (Balanced mode)
SSD: 41C
HDD: 39C
GTX 1080: 43C (Silent Mode in GPU Tweak)
Ram: 36C and 37C per stick.

Obviously these temps at idle are well under control and I'm willing to deal with a little bit of noise if I put an EVGA ICX in here. Which brings me to another question, can the Bolt 3's PSU support a 1080Ti?

A 600 watt psu should do it, unless you start overclocking the CPU and gpu beyond moderate amounts.

The custom coolers vs the reference blower will add heat to the case because of the relatively low Bolt airflow. How much I couldn't say.    I have seen complaints when the card is run heavy for awhile.   I would ask DS what they've seen.   I have no experience with Bolt.

I'm only doing ASRock's auto overclock. The Motherboard sets the 6800K to 4Ghz and I don't think it's even touching the voltage.

As if it could, this little Mini-ITX doesn't have the necessary power delivery for that kind of overclocking.

I have the Bolt I with a custom cooler (so not a one-for-one, but generally similar). It's not caused any heat issues for me with the GPU, CPU, ram, etc. In fairness, the Bolt I has an incredibly loud PSU, so I wouldn't hear other component's fans even if they were going crazy, but I do monitor my temps and all has been well.

As of right now I still have no buyer for the current GPU. I'm not willing to shell out over $700 for a 1080Ti just yet....but I do want that free Destiny 2 for PC.

Contacted DS but the representative ignored the question of how temps would be affected. Recommended a 700W Power Supply which I understand.

I'm debating on just getting the EVGA SC2 and benchmarking the system to see temp differences on all devices and compare them. If it's drastic then I'll exchange for the blower Founder's Edition I don't really want. :|

It's recommended to use a blower design in the BOLT, as that delivers the best thermals.

Makes sense.  Big%20Smile

Wonder if the new Bolt X will handle the card's thermals any better.

I should have been more precise. Bolt 3 specifically. The 1080 I have now runs really hot under full load. Usually 87°. I do want the Ti from EVGA since I like them as a manufacturer but their blower design is out of stock (of course).

The GPUs are designed to hit up to 87' which is normal as they will "turbo/overclock" to get the highest level of performance.

Is your graphics card thermal throttling? Is the boost clock not activating? Check using GPU-Z software in the background to see while playing a gaming session.

It's not throttling on it's own per se, I have the target set for 82 degrees so it lowers the boost from there.

In most gaming sessions it sticks in the 70's. Under benchmark it can easily hit 80+ but I lowered the temp limit since it has surpassed 90 on a few occasions.

Needing a 700W PSU on top of the stress of attempting to sell the current GPU is a bit much for me. I'll pass and stick with my current. It's working just enough for me.
