the CD we make is a rescue CD, no backups are done on it, the CD is nothing but a version of Acronis that allows you to boot off of it and clone from there.
when cloning its best that you not do it from windows, for best results, make the rescue CD and then reboot PC but boot off of the CD. once you boot off of the CD then you can follow the clone guide. during the process make sure your pic your OS drive as "source" and then your HDD (internal or external) as "destination" drive. I don't advise anybody to clone to a CD or DVD. when I backup/clone my external drive is connected via usb which is the destination drive. hope that answers your questions

My pleasure boss
Yes you got it. just click on the option to make the rescue CD and then just follow the prompts, you will need an empty CD, Acronis will do the rest, it will format, burn and all of that, all you have to do is just leave the CD in the tray and boot off of it Edited by DST4ME - 17 Apr 2009 at 5:06pm |

choose your HDD
choose your external enclosure more external enclosures this way if the HDD goes bad you don't' have to throw away the external and should be cheaper and you can choose and change the HDD and its size. by now you have installed a bunch of HDDs in a case, this will be even easier so you know what you are doing
I got so many externals now that I'm thinking about getting one of those externals that lets me house 5 HDDs that way I have one data and power wire instead of 5 and all drives are in one enclosure, taking much less room and I can change the size of the HDDs anytime I want.
