Topic: RAM Question Posted: 27 Apr 2014 at 9:23am |
I am contemplating buying 3 Corsair Vengeance Blue 4GB (1x4GB) DDR3 1600 MHz (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory (CMZ4GX3M1A1600C9B), thus a total of 12 GB.
Will these work on my ASUS P6X58D (Intel X58 Chipset) Motherboard? |

x58 boards run best with 1.65v ram i believe, at least that's what i read/heard.But you can run 1.5v and that motherboard is triple channel and supports 1600. If u want the same voltage rating, dominator series is good ram by corsair. You should be good though

OK. Thanks. But the 1.5v will be OK? I think the Ram I have now (which is original from when I got the computer from DS) is 1.5. Guess I could be wrong.

Regardless you will be fine with what you are looking into, the x58 processors can handle up to 1.65v and the only real difference is the 1.65v ram usually has lower latency and it will put out higher heat. 1.5v will work in x58 just fine. as long as your replacing all your ram with those 3 sticks which your doing. Just put them in, go into bios and put on xmp 1600mhz, should all work.

during startup/post youll hit DEL key to get into your bios.and then under AI OVERCLOCKER you turn that on and you should be able to set xmp. just double check to make sure the ram is running at 1600 and timings are the same as your old ram. they should be.
