I really don't like the idea of having the 240 radiator hanging off the back of the halestorm where it could make noise or be damaged. Also I am afraid it would block the exhaust of the system. Then I came up with this idea:
I hope everyone can understand what I tried to demonstrate. The 360 Radiator would be mounted to the ceiling of the Obsidian as usual. But then the 240 would be mounted directly under that (of course in the way that would fit/make sense). This set up still uses the same number of fans as the usual outside-the-case setup (so no extra noise) but they can be sound blocked by the case's sound proofing material with the noise canceling package. Best of all, the exaust fan is no longer blocked and can freely blow out hot air. Is this logical or even possible? |

im sure its possible, anything can be modded, as far as helpful, i dont think so.
i think this goes without saying but if you do that you will be using 1 rads exhaust as the others intake, bad idea
you would be much better off doing one of the following:
use a case where you can top mount 1 rad and front intake mount another
or
mod a current dso case to have 1 as front intake and one as top intake

That setup will perform less than just a single triple radiator |

yea i didnt even think of this until now because im still poor but that setup will not only blow warm air into your lower rad but it will choke the exhaust of the main rad, making BOTH rads perform worse
not that justin's word is questionable, just explaining what i think he meant
you have to think of it like a fluid system, picture smoke going through your fans, where would it go, what would slow or stop airflow, is more coming in than going out?

Thanks for your wisdom. :)
Am I wrong about the case exhaust being hindered by having the small rad out the back? http://img704.imageshack.us/img704/4195/digitalstormgutsfull.jpg |

well that depends on the case and the setup, from what i hear most water systems blow thier exhaust into the case, i dont know this for sure. but i can say that if you want to be able to get fresh intake in a triple and dual rad, you may have to look outside of DSO's cases. if youre already looking at 2 loops it is likely in your price range to buy another case and ship it to dso, something like:
this
antec 1200
or maybe this case
or the lianli giant
would take some work, but i think its possible.. id look for something where you can do front 3xrad IN and back 2x ran IN and top out
or maybe bottom rack 2x IN front 3x IN and top and rear OUT
its possible that last case could do top 2x IN and front 3x IN Edited by !ender_ - 09 Jul 2010 at 1:38pm |
