Would you consider it normal to replace every major part within a brand new Lumos system build completed in January of 2019? Corsair Plat 1000W PSU, ROG Maximus XI Mobo, GeForce RTX 2080TI GPU. I actually looked around the forums here and there doesn't seem to be any negative reviews or issues reported at all. Must just be me.
Anyone else have issues with their "Top of the Line" system? |

No problems of any kind with my Jan 2019 Lumos in use 24/7 ever since. Been an excellent and dependable rig. Hopefully that is the end of issues for you from now on!

They buy parts just like all of us and even the best products have negative reviews because of early failure. It just happens. Obviously you got bad luck having multiple failures. The other big issue of computers is that shipping can bang things up also causing some additional chances of early failure of the system if it was tossed around in some way. |

I've been a DS owner for going on a decade. The only things I've had to replace are an HDD, GPU, and a fan. The HDD (one of the most reliable ones sold on the market at the time) was one of those extremely rare failures, both DS and the person I spoke to from the manufacturer were kind of surprised it died as soon as it did. The GPU and fan were more inline with typical failure rates. So I would not consider it normal to replace as much as you have, no, though as mentioned it is possible to just get really unlucky with PC hardware. Anecdotal, I know, but I had a friend who had even worse luck than you did - not with DS, another company. However, based on DS's testing processes, I'm curious if there was any shipping damage or anything with your Lumos? I'm not doubting your word, but as you've stated there aren't many people coming on the forums with that kind of failure rate, so I can't help but wonder if something happened to the PC at some point along the line, be that a bad part that daisy-chained into other failures, or some kind of physical damage that had the same result.

As in most cases, there was no visual damage when this unit was delivered to my home. It was packed well for transport with a plastic trampoline like holder surrounding it.
I just received the replacement GPU overnight delivery and DS sent it to me without the cooling quick connects attached to the cooling plate. So, I would say at this point DS is creating these problems all on their own. I shouldn't have to continue to put up with manufacturer flaws and lack of technical attention to detail. All I want is to sever this business relationship and move on with my life. |

Sorry you are having all these problems. You have to remove all fittings from the old hardware and attach to the new one. Computer parts do not come with fittings. You will also need more coolant (make sure it is the same as in the system) to add for the new card. Hopefully the rough beginning will bring about years of happy trouble free enjoyment. Good luck. |

I suppose I wasn't very clear in my previous comment. I sent my old card with fittings to DS for test and RMA. They neglected to remove the old fittings and put on the new card with cooling plate. They also said they would send a bottle of coolant with the new card and didn't.

Ouch, you will have to call them for the coolant brand and good luck on the fittings. They were taken off and ..... (I doubt they test the card, more probable return to the mfg.) They used to send the replacement part, you'd install and return the bad. That way you would have all the necessary accesories to get it running again. I get all my cooling parts from Amazon and Frozen CPU. There are others. |
