I use and like Norton 360 Premier.
Updates many times a day...stays up on threats. |

Best antivirus is YOU. I have used MS Essentials (W7U) and now Defender (W10P) and have never had any problems. I also use Firefox and DuckDuckGo. I don't surf everywhere, only the breaks I know.

I switched many years ago from Norton because I had some incompatability issues. Though those have probably been defeated, I switched to MS Essentials since I felt I could count on Microsoft to at least be compatible with it's own OS. Made the switch to Defender with Win 10, and, like hoserator, I have never had an issue of any kind in 10 years of using the product.

No need to dl. It comes as part of W10. Go to: Start>Settings>Update & Security>Windows Security>Open Windows Security and there you will find all you need. that's in W10 Pro but I don't see why it should not be the same in the Home version.

Indeed best antivirus is you. Though even being extra cautious your pc can be infected. I would suggest either having Norton 360 or Malwarebytes scanner on your computer.

Avast! / CCleaner / Malwarebytes / Superantispyware remover ... Scan and disinfect weekly in that order.

You shouldn't need Virus software unless you like to gamble online with programs.
The best protection is education, what is and what is not safe. Just my 2 cents. |

For my gaming system, the best is none as I find most and especially Nortons invasive into the pc. So my gaming system other than connected to my router has no Email account set up, no internet browsing. No USBs sticks ever get connected.Nothing but the game. Is it 100% safe? No, but in my last gaming PC’s life, never got an infection of any sort.
I use my old laptop (currently, as I tend to convert mv older gaming system to a workstation) to access the internet, for email and such. On that system, I use Norton’s because though they are invasive, they do a damn good job. |

I would recommend Norton 360, Avast, Kaspersky and McAfee.

Why not just go with Windows Defender/Windows Security. While it may not have the very lightest resource footprint, it is far from the heaviest. It has also been in the top tier of security suites for several years running from multiple third-party testing evaluations.
I used to use several of the major 3rd party antivirus/security suite products including, at various times, AVG, Avast, and Panda Cloud [and for light footprint I'd go with Panda], but given how drastically Windows Defender/Security has improved since the introduction of Windows 10 I just don't see the point anymore. |

These are couple of anti-viruses which I and my gamers friends used.
Bitdefender Antivirus Plus 2019. Norton AntiVirus Plus. F-Secure Antivirus SAFE. Kaspersky Anti-Virus. I personally used Norton Antivirus Plus. It doesn't make your system slow. regards, Lewis |
