As some of you know, I have recently ordered my new PC the HailStorm 2. In my configuration I included water cooling with my EVGA SC ACX 3.0, however, I read a post on this forum today that stated the EVGA ACX 3.0 will not be using liquid cooling for that video card. So, my question is - Will I be reimbursed the difference of the liquid cooled EVGA card vs. a non-liquid cooled card? At the time of ordering my new PC, I did not know the card will not be liquid cooled so like I said, I included liquid cooling for the video card in my configuration. I do not mind that the EVGA card will not be liquid cooled, but I would like to be reimbursed the difference between a liquid cooled EVGA GTX 1080 card and a non-liquid cooled EVGA GTX 1080 card.

Contact DS. They might put in a gtx 1080 that can be water cooled figuring that is the preference. Better to play it safe.

Thank you, I will be calling DS Monday. And, imo, a "can be" water cooled card is much different than "is" water cooled. I mean, afterall, I am paying for it to be cooled by DS, not me. From what I have read about DS (and one of the MAIN reasons I decided to go with Digital Storm) is that their customer service is very good. So, I am going to assume they will understand this and not charge me for a water cooled card although the card has the potential to be water cooled. :) |

So your preference is staying with the sli 1080 ACX air cooled and dropping putting the cards under water ? If so, then they will change it to just the cpu being under water.

I have never done water cooling myself. I have zero experience doing that and I really don't care to learn. I'd much rather DS do it, but someone on this forum mentioned yesterday that the ACX 3.0 will not be water cooled. Sure I would LIKE to have liquid cooling for my video card SLI set-up, however, I do not want to do it (install the liquid cooling) myself. I would much rather DS do it. But, like I said, it was posted that the EVGA ACX 3.0 cards will be water cooled. So, going by that, it would mean I would be installing it myself. I feel VERY uncomfortable doing the installation on a machine I am paying over 9K on. |

why not just order teh wb from ek yourself and have it sent to DS for lc on gpus.
If not then go acx. If you remove lc cooling from gpus then they will adjust your price. |

Thanks. Yeah, I am going to look in to this today (evga water blocks) and call DS tomorrow to discuss what steps we will need to take to get liquid cooling done. If I came away sounding like a jerk in this post, I do apologize. I am not at all mad or upset by this - Not even remotely. I just would not feel comfortable doing the installation myself. lol =/ |

You didn't sound like a jerk at all. Its all good on the forums.
Yous should get what you want. Might take a little longer and a few more bucks if you follow DST's advice and send them the wb, but in the end, you have to live with it for several years. Either water or air will work, both have advantages. |

If you don't like to mess with LC my advise it to stay away from it, you have to understand when you go lc, there are risks of parts going bad and having to change them. This rule applies everywhere "more people/parts = bigger possibility of something going wrong".
You don't sound like a jerk, you sound like a person who does not like to mess with stuff, specially lc, which is why I said what I just said above. Edited by DST4ME - 03 Jul 2016 at 8:41am |

I personally would stay on air, unless I did water just to have something to play with.
Water does look great, keeps temps lower and stays quieter and air is easier to work on. |

Yeah, everything I have read (here and on other forums and/or PC reviewers) several state what has been said here.
I will call DS tomorrow. I will stay with the CPU being liquid cooled, but not the GPU. I will be upgrading the Video Card much more and sooner than I will the CPU. The CPU I ordered, the intel 6950x, will do me good for years to come, and the graphics card I will be upgrading much much more than the processor. So, I have decided to just go air-cooled for the GPU. I like the Hailstorm 2 case too. So, I will call DS tomorrow to confirm that the CPU will be liquid cooled, but the GPU will not be liquid cooled. I am sure I'll be fine. The EVGA ACX 3.0 is a very good air-cooling set-up and it keeps the cards nice and cool - this is confirmed by the several positive and good reviews I have read about the EVGA SC ACX 3.0. I will stay with the CPU liquid cooled, however. The area I will be keeping the PC is wide open and air flow is very good in the room I am putting the PC in. |

I went ahead and updated your order, I have removed GPU liquid cooling and left it with CPU liquid cooling. You should receive an update via email.

Not to be the one against everything said but... consider going WC with the Founders Edition, you will be able to OC way above anything air and specially when having SLI, being that it will be hotter than normal, therefore expect those fans to spin more than if they were single card...
My 2c without actually ever testing the ACX 3.0 :) |

He is not comfortable messing with the lc so that is why he wants to go on air.
IMHO the oc on the gpu is way over rated, in sli 1080 you are already getting crazy fps without the oc, not sure how much 8-10 more fps is gonna make in a situation where one is getting 100 fps already. Within that between air and lc you are talking perhaps 5 fps difference. Here is a aggressive oc of 1900+ Edited by DST4ME - 03 Jul 2016 at 10:25am |

Liquid cooling the GTX 1080 allows for an aggressive GPU overclock that sustains over long time periods.

Alex, that is very appreciated. I kinda feel bad, like a 'party-pooper' lol because of the way i posted this topic.
To clarify, I was not at all worried about Digital Storm in regards to being charged for the cooling. I was very assured that DS is a trustworthy company. So, like I said earlier, I apologize for coming across in a way that seemed as if I was complaining and worried. I guess I should have reworded the question. I just didn't know how I should have went about handling the liquid cooling on my own. Again, I really appreciate your quick response, Alex. Thank you. :) |
