How would you improve on the components of the current Ode 3 base as of 10/13/2011:
Intel Core i7 2600K CPU (must have) 8GB 1600MHz Memory 2x SLI GTX 570 1.25GB (anything comparable in SLI or CF is fine) My budget is $2000-$2400. I do not need a screen, keyboard, mouse or speakers. Monitor is a 24" LCD. Strictly a gaming computer and watching movies. Computer must have one SDD or two in Raid, and at least 1 TB for storage, and a Blu-ray drive. I intend to later add a high-end sound card myself. Thanks. |

hdd setup is this way:
HDD1 = fast small drive: os/apps/games HDD2 = regular large drive: media/personal/work file storage there are many things you can improve on but your budget can only do ode 3, if we custom config ode 3 the price of it will be higher then ode 3 and that is without the improvements. but you can get a better cpu cooler, psu, case, and hdd. DST4ME,
Tell me the the specific CPU cooler you would suggest or hdd setup so I can consider adding myself at a later date. The room itself is 70 degrees F most of the year. I am concerned with heat and noise from the SLI setup, but I have no idea whether an upgraded CPU cooler would actually matter. Your input would be appreciated. Thanks. |

that a70 and noctua are king in performance till you get to stage 4.
for hdd setup look like what would work for you based on your preferences is a good ssd for hdd1 and then the 1TB black caviar for storage. Not sure why you wanted raid ssd tho. cpu cooler will cool the cpu, it has nothing to do with gpus, and gpus will be the loudest with their fans at full load. the h70/80 are a bit loud also. |
