As I am finalizing my build, I am seriously thinking of the Stage 6 LC for both the CPU and the GPUs... (I will be using a 2x or 3x 580 SLI setup) I noticed that DS offers to o/c your GPUs...but as I found out with the CPU Stage 3 o/c there are potential issues / ptifalls to be aware of. (thanks DST for the heads up on that...)  I am hoping that the Stage 6 will give me some headroom to experiement with o/c the GPUs and the CPU. (I am a total noob at that right now).

I haven't seen anyone comment on it so I thought I'd ask if the DS performed OC is worth while or not? Is there something specific to ask them to do (or NOT do)?

What do you all think?

1. You oc the gpus only when needed, in dual/tri sli its not needed, you just be adding more heat to the system, and putting extra stress on gpus for no good reason.

2. the OC DS does is very mild and might gain 1 or 2 fps.

3. higher oc can give you maybe 4 or 5 fps which again are not needed to begin with, and IMHO 5 fps is not worth the oc.

4. oced gpus tend to fail sooner.

5. the heat/lc is not the reason why we don't recommend oc on gpus, its because of the reasons above, specifically number 1.

But If I go on payroll I would lose the neutral position I have, so when you get advise from me you know there is no conflict of interest. I'm advising people on what I know is best for them and lot of times that is not necessarily the parts that make DS the most money.
