Four lines of workstations and servers, from a one-card tower to a GPU server. Every price is a real workstation computer you can open in the configurator and change before you order.

Where the money changes what you can do, and where a smaller machine still serves you well.
Most of what a workstation costs follows from one question: what limits your work. CAD and BIM modeling runs mostly on one core, so a fast desktop processor matters more than a high core count. A GPU renderer or a local AI model is limited by graphics memory: if the scene or the model does not fit on the card, the work slows down or stops. Simulation wants memory channels, ECC and system memory. Tell us the software and the size of the work, and the machine follows from it. We install the OS, drivers and the applications we agree on, including your licensed software when you provide it, and your quote lists every version.
A custom PC with the same graphics card models and renders well, and for one designer working alone it is often the sensible buy. A desktop workstation earns its price when you need a professional card with more memory, more than one card, a processor with more cores and memory channels, or a machine planned to run at full load for hours. If you are not sure which side of that line you are on, ask us; if a smaller machine serves your work better, that is what we recommend. None of these is a prebuilt box: each one is configured and built for the order.
Spend on the part your work is limited by, and keep the rest sensible. If your models already fit in a card's memory with room to spare, a bigger card will not make them faster to work with. Storage can be added later; a platform change cannot. Autodesk calls unlisted graphics cards untested, not unsupported, so a GeForce card is a fair choice for many design seats.
More graphics memory, when the model, scene or solver no longer fits: Ansys publishes 1.0 to 5.6 GB of GPU memory per million cells, as a lower limit, for its Fluent GPU solver, by mesh and solver (Fluent GPU Solver Hardware Buying Guide, updated April 2026). A second card, when you run two jobs at once or a renderer that uses both. In Blender's own benchmark the RTX 5090 posts a median of 14,966 across 1,555 results and the RTX PRO 6000 16,737 across 205 (Blender Open Data, Blender 4.5 LTS, read 24 October 2026), so the professional card earns its price when a scene needs its 96 GB, not for speed alone. Threadripper PRO, when you need four cards or more system memory than a desktop platform holds. Each step on this page shows its real price, so you can see what it adds before you ask.
When several people share the machine, when it runs jobs around the clock in a rack, or when the work needs more cards than a tower holds. We ask how it will be shared and where it will live before we price it. A systems engineer replies with pricing in one business day, servers included.
SOLIDWORKS publishes a certified-hardware list, and NVIDIA RTX PRO Blackwell cards appear on it. Certification is per configuration: the system, the operating system, the card, the release and a minimum driver version. Where your software publishes a list, we tell you which parts of your build are on it and which are untested.
Purchase orders are welcome, orders are tax-exempt for eligible organizations, and we work with university and government procurement. Every system runs a 72-hour full-load burn-in before it ships, and lifetime US-based support comes with it.
An OEM fits when procurement mandates a fleet vendor. Building it yourself fits when you have the hours to integrate and support it. Here is the honest comparison for the rest.
