2nd DS rig!

Hi Johntgw.... Happy thanksgiving.

You put together a real nice build, but I tweaked it a bit ...

Changed the power supply to the better gold version with double the warranty and fully modular cabling.  The one you picked is Bronze efficiency, etc. 

Changed the SSD from DS branded to the Samsung.  Nothing wrong with theirs but with theirs you only get their warranty, 2 years unless you up it.

Changed  HDD to Western Digital for more reliable and longer warranty.

Changed to cpu cooler from their DS branded for the same reason as the SSD.

The big dollar change was putting in the gtx 1080, which you'll appreciate for 4K.   If this kicks the cost too high, drop back the the gtx 1070.  It'll still play on a 4K screen, but about 20% less frames, give or take.

I seriously doubt you'll ever need that much ram, but its not that much more, so up to you.   5 Years ago the need for 16gb in gaming was considered for the near future , and we still see only 8Gb needed.

I always recommend oc'ing, because it does help smooth things out and helps with min fps, not necessarily max fps.  That is where blurring, etc happens.   But, your 6700K does Turbo to 4.2 and DS will oc it to 4.4 or so, not earth shattering.   The Turbo nowadays is across all the cores unlike a few years ago. 

If you opt out of oc'ing, might as well save some money and get the non K cpu, 6700.   I would get the oc, but its not a deal breaker if not.

Unless your apps, like 3D modeling , can make use of it, 2666mhz is the sweet spot, the higher ram not needed or used.    

My suggestion to go 16gb ram didn't take into account your modeling. You'd have to answer your ram needs.   Depends what level you're into.
