Budget:3k
Expectations:Play new star wars battlefront smoothly Usage:fps games Special Needs: none Hi guys! Looking to get a new computer for the upcoming star wars battlefront. Looking at Slade or Apollo best versions. The specs look the same to me. It seems like the Apollo has cool lights and the Slade has cool sound dampening features. Am I missing something? Which is more popular and why? I'm pretty sure either would meet my demands, I don't need the lights and I wear headphones so the noise isn't a huge issue either. |

Between the two cases, it's really preference.
The Slade is definitely more subtle looking and quiet. The Apollo on the other hand has a big side window to show off the internals and can have LEDs inside. |

From my experience in helping others on the forums, most pick the Apollo for its large window and being able to see the lights and parts. They pick the Slade for a cleaner looking build and mostly for very quiet with its top and side acoustic panels. The Apollo also has better airflow, although the Slade can have similar airflow if the acoustic panels are removed.
Like Nav said, all about your own preference. They both get the job done. |

Thanks for the responses. Going with the slade.
My wife had a little sticker shock so I'm trying to reduce the cost. From quick Google search it seems like the i7 6700 4 core compares pretty well to the 5930k 6 core for gaming. Is the 5930k worth the extra 500$ (it needs a better motherboard from what I can tell). Basically torn if the slade better is enough or if I stick with best. Here is the build I did starting at Slade level 2. Upgraded the ram, ssd drive, video card and cooling. Not sure if the cooling needed to be upgraded or not... Hi Levh,
If you like the looks of the Slade but not the cooling you should take a look at the DS Coridium. It is a similar design to the Slade but comes with the side window and a little less air restriction. The Coridium is the Corsair 450D Case. The Slade is the Corsair 550D case. The 450D is a mid-tower. The Apollo is a full tower. If you think you might add a second 980Ti in the future you might want to consider the 850w Super Nova PS. I would also pick the Western Digital 1Tb HDD instead of the Seagate. Cost is +$19. Frank |

Thanks for the tips Frank! I like the slade look over the coridium but I did change the power supply and hard drive like you suggested. Did you have any insight into the processor choice?

Hi Levh,
For a straight gaming machine there is nothing wrong with the Core i7 6700K. You only have 20 PCIe lanes with Skylake so you need to consider that with additions. It is great for SLI GPUs and standard SSD. I like your build and think you will be happy with it. Frank |

Don't forget that the Skylake supports DX12. Anyone with older cpu's will be sol when the next generation of games are ported.
