What would you be using the 4k monitor for? Gaming? Movies? Also you said your system is capable of running 4k, but would it run it well? For example what do you have for a graphics card, etc.

100% for gaming, my current monitor is ASUS ROG PG278Q Black 27" WQHD 2560 x 1440, 144 Hz I have titan x pascal, intel core i7 6700.. I ended up getting the x34 predator. I am thinking of bringing back, my fps is not as high as my other monitor and when I oc to 100hz it flickers like crazy, anything under is fine. Not sure what to do. and for some reason in tombradier it wont go over 60hz...

From my understanding 4K is not ideal for gaming quite yet. Everything I've read/heard seems to indicate 1440 is the sweet spot at the moment. I don't believe the current 4K monitors go above 60hz, but I think the new ones coming out next year get up to 120hz. I ended up going with an Acer Predator XB271HU for now, with plans to get a 4K monitor in a year or two when there is more 4K content/games and better 4K monitors. |

I actually ended up purchasing the Asus ROG 27in 4k monitor and I am very happy with it. I can tell the difference going from 144hz to 60hz but holy sh*t does it look good. I am able to play all of my games at full graphics settings and have not hady issues

We are definitely in the era of 4k gaming. If you are running a 1080 or higher, you can enjoy some 60 FPS gaming at 4k.
Now a single Titan XP won't give you no 100+ fps at 4k. You might be able to get 80FPS at 4k in some games, but be ready to turn settings down. But yes, if you have a 1080 or higher, you can play most new AAA games on high settings and get your 60 FPS or higher. If you want over 100 FPS, you'll need two... either way, the era is here. Good job with the ASUS. I was just about to say, don't go ACER. While they are supposedly good now, I'd still wait a gen or two after their mess up with the original ultra wide 1440p monitor fiasco. Plus that ASUS 27" 4k monitor is so cheap now. I've been using it as one of my floating monitors in my house for the better part of the last year, and it's great. |
