    Posted: 10 Oct 2016 at 12:58pm
Hi, I've owned my DS laptop for some time now and was just wondering if I should be using canned air to spray it out, dust specifically.

I was concerned that might actually push the dust if any is in there further up and possibly cause an issue?

Please share your advice,

Caleb.

Check temps. If they're higher than when new, then you might have dust in there.

My advice is to remove the bottom panels for direct access to fans and heat sinks and use short bursts of air to blow out the dust. Hold the fan blades as you blast them.

No. don't use canned air. Use this:

https://www.amazon.com/Metro-Vacuum-ED500P-500-Watt-Electric/dp/B001U899HQ/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1476131700&sr=8-3&keywords=datavac+vacuum

ArkansasWoman turned us all onto this little beaut and it has already paid for itself here. Yes, it's noisy and can get a bit warm when used for long periods of time, but what it doesn't do is freeze the can, condensate, and give you the opportunity to spray chemicals into your machine.

Just my 2¢...   I absolutely love my datavac.

Or, you can spend $6 for a can of air or $60 + for datavac.

Short burst......no freezing or condensation.   No chemicals. Quiet.

It really depends how much you need. I use a can a year.   So, I'm good with cans.

Just saying.

So tell us again how much that clean-room set you back?

Too much dust, dander, pet hair and the like here.. I have to clean my system once a month. I was using a can a month.

Clean room was a cool quarter-mil. Wait, maybe I should've used the vac.

My PC just doesn't get that dusty...forced hot air heat, 3 cats.... got me.

This is the best way to clean your laptop, open it.

Now once you have it open you can use a can of air or a dust vacuum, but without opening it you will not get the dust that is stuck inside.

I personally just use a can.
