My computer is sitting in stage 3 and im already adding more on. I just ordered a 3D printer and a oculus rift. This is gonna burn through usb ports like crazy. How hard would it be for a not tech savy person like myself to add one of those usb cards to the computer?
I found one on newegg that has 5 usb3 ports on it. |

It's very easy to add that, you can also get USB 3.0 hub.

I can show your 12 year old cousin who has never used a pc to do it in 2 minutes flat, I mean that literally no exaggeration.
open your case, locate your pci slot you gonna use for the usb card as you see in the pic below the pci lane is blue. Now just line up the usb card with the pci lane as I showed you in the pic below and gently push it in so its in all the way. you are done. you can use the pci lane that is blue below the ones I'm showing also if the the fist one is blocked. any questions let me know, feel free to take a pic of your mobo and post it here and we can show you exactly where to put it on yours, but first be sure to show us a link to the usb card you want to get also. so that is your mobo, the cards you posted have the same connection as the one I posted in my last post, so just take the usb card and stick it one of the 2 pci lanes I have pointed to, just like the pic from my last post. Now both these cards will actually work in any of your pci lanes I picked those because the lane and the connections match and make best sense for a new person. Both these cards need a power source so its a molex connector for one, there is one in your pc already I'm pretty sure, or a different one depending on which card you go with, but here is my problem, one of the cards you want to get has a 50% negative rating and the other one does not have one rating, both of those are a red flag to me and I would not get them. Look for one with best reviews and then read the reviews to see what they say, for example in bad reviews I'm looking for the ones telling me what is actually wrong with the part, I'm not interested in the bad review that say it arrived damaged for example, because shipping is not representative of the part's quality and perfomrance. So find a good one and I will let you know if it needs a power source also and if it does what you are looking for. Edited by DST4ME - 30 Jul 2016 at 2:44am |

LOl that is the same one Arkansaswoman is talking about, and its the same one I used in my original image
Having said that on newegg people are complaining about issues with it: look here After looking at the negetive reviews on both newegg and amazon, lot of people seem to have issues have an older system, so I think we are fine there, but there were some reviews saying it stopped working and etc, but there was not a lot of those, so its up to you, let us know. Hubs are just a block of 3+ USB ports that plugs into a single USB port, like so: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817659002 Rather than having to install the PCIe card you just plug the hub into a USB port and the boom you have more ports. If you have a usb3.0 port you can connect the hub to, then I would do that. lol I don't know why but this whole time I thought you had no usb 3.0 ability in your system, again I don't know why I thought that.
well after looking at your specs some more, I'm left with one question why do you need a usb 3.0 card or hub for? I don't think you realize how many usb ports you gonna have on that mobo. IF I'm not mistaken you have 8 x usb 3.0, 2 x usb 3.1, and 8 x usb 2.0. That is a total of 18 x usb ports. you need more then that? If you need more then just get a hub and connect it to the usb 3.0 port. Edited by DST4ME - 30 Jul 2016 at 9:10pm |

well truth be told i dont know positively that i need more but now days everything uses usb.
i mean just from what little i do know mouse, keyboard and the rift takes 3xusb3 and 1 usb 2 and if im not mistaken the keyboard uses two usb ports. oh plus the xbox controller and my headset. so you can see the usb needs add up very fast. just trying to think ahead more than actually knowing there will be an issue. |

Ok so you got 18 ports.
your mouse and keyboard should use 1 usb port that can be 2.0, but lets say they use 2, so that brings us to 16 ports. rift takes one 3.0 port, xbox cont and headset both can take two usb 2.0 that brings us to 13 usb ports. you got a printer? that is another usb port, now we are down to 12 usb ports, 9 usb 3.0 and 3 usb 2.0, so to be honest as you can see after all that you still have 12 ports left. I really don't think it will be an issue for you, but like I said worst case scenario just get a usb 3.0 hub and stick it in one of your usb 3.0 ports, tho I can't think of 12 more things you would need. My pleasure and remember since you already have usb 3.0 port if you need more just get a hub, and plug it into your usb 3.0 port and you are good to go.

If you do get a USB hub my advice would be to get a powered one.
