Budget:
About $2400 +- $250

About Me: I wouldnt consider myself a hardcore gamer by any means, I usually game after work for 3-4 hours more or less depending on schedule. weekends tend to be for longer periods of use though that also depends on my schedule. Digital Storm seemed like my best option as i like there customization, Quality, and Hopefully the helpful community!

Current Setup:
Asus G75VW-BBK5:
-Geforce GTX 660M 2GB
-8GB DDR3 Memory
-1TB HDD

Expectations:
I would like to be able to play modern and Future games at Ultra Specs or atleast Close to ultra for future games.

Usage:
Mostly for Gaming, possibly working on a few spreadsheets here and there, possibly use for netflix aswell. Some of my current games are: Black Desert Online, World of Warcraft, Path of Exile, Elder Scrolls Online, Dark Souls 3.

Special Needs:
Im very used to gaming on a Laptop and not a desktop as i like the portability, even though my laptop is about 9 pounds. That said, I would be willing to switch to a desktop and keep my current laptop as my portable gaming setup.

Config#:1403651

Specifications for a Harker, Ive played around with some Desktop rigs but not so sure which direction to go with those, specially when it comes to Liquid Cooling.

Hi DarkSideRider21.....  If you're staying away from a desktop gaming rig to avoid going with liquid cooling, you don't have to.   The air coolers offered will cool the cpu just fine.   The Noctua air cooler is the best, is very quiet, cools great and lasts and lasts.

For the money, a desktop will give you much better performance than a laptop.   Your laptop build  vs a Vanquish level 3 with its gtx 970 for example will save you a $1000 and give you a good 50% better fps in gaming with a 1080p monitor over the 970M mobile card.

You could go custom and start with the Apollo and select a better power supply, any storage option you want and have a pc case that is easy to work on or add to down the road.

If you want to keep mobility then the laptop would be the way to go.

awesome, thanks so much for the advice, the more i think about this I keep leaning towards a desktop since it would just be better and last longer, plus it will be easy to upgrade. Would a Hydrolux Cooling with Flexible Tubings provide me and advantage or would it just be good to have for future upgrades? im not fully against cooling BUT im just paranoid of having fluid running through a PC, but if its a better option and would allow for better upgrades in the future, id be willing to do the hydrolux with the Flex tubes (mainly because if im going to do it, i might as well enjoy the look too :). Again thanks so much for the config and advice

i wouldn't spring for a custom water loop unless i was cooling multiple components (i.e. cpu+graphics cards+chipset) or intending to push my cpu oc really high (and then again you can just get an AIO with a bigger radiator).   custom water loops are really just an "enthusiast sport" to coin a phrase.  unless you're really into them stick with an AIO water cooler or even an air cooler.  a top of the line air cooler will support a moderate cpu oc.  an AIO water cooler with a 240mm rad will do the same, perhaps a little higher oc.  an AIO with a 360mm rad will handle high oc'ing.

an air cooler will last you forever.  downside to them are the size and weight.  it makes them difficult to work around and stress on the mobo (especially during shipping).

an AIO water cooler is low profile around the cpu socket, so it's easy to get to RAM sticks for troubleshooting, upgrading. etc.   no stress on the mobo.  looks cleaner, imo.  no maintenance required (as opposed to a custom water loop).  the only real downside to them is they won't last forever-typically around 3-5 years before the pump goes out, ymmv.
