Check your cpu cores and gpu temps with HWmonitor, a free download. If dust has accumulated in the fans and coolers, the processors might throttle down and effect performance. That's if gaming has taken a hit. Use canned air to blow them out, short burst.
For startups, use Malwarebytes and CCleaner to clean the rig of cluttered files that slow down everything. Use Task manager to check for programs running in the background. This is a big cause of slow startups, etc. It takes a little time and Googling what's showing in Startup to determine what you don't need. Run a virus scan. Do you have a Samsung 840 SSD? I am pretty sure the level 3 back then had a SSD but I don't know what model. How full is you SSD?

The biggest cause of "bogging down" that I have seen is malware and spyware. As bprat suggested download and run Malwarebytes and CCleaner. These programs remove malware and unnecessary programs from your system.
A good anti-virus is a must. Then, when you're sure the programming is clean, go for the physical cleaning of the machine. This is also very important. If you've never cleaned (dusted) your computer then you are killing it. Dust clogs up and strangles computers. If you don't feel comfortable taking the machine apart to get all the dust bunnies out, call a local repair shop and have them do it... it must be done to increase the life and the speed of the machine. Frank... IIRC the level 3 does not have the SSD. That was for the V2L4 only. Running on the 1TB HDD only.

Hi CHUCKNORRIS189,
An SSD is a Solid State Drive meaning it has no moving parts, all electronic, versus an HDD which is mechanical, having a platter and stylus to record. The 840 is the model number. Some SSDs from Samsung had an issue with the way they operated and got slow very fast. It appears your system did not have an SSD according to Snaike (if he remembers correctly), so your slow down is probably caused by other reasons. You can find out what your system has by going to your Start button/Control Panel/Device Manager/Disk Drives. It will list what you have. The prior posts give you a list of things to do to narrow down what could be causing the slowdown. Good luck. Edited by hoserator - 28 Apr 2016 at 2:55am |

Also depends on how full his hard drive is. Larger hard drives are more prone to it than smaller. Once you break the 50% capacity threshold, HDD's will naturally start to decrease in performance.
