Hey everybody,

So I just bought my Virtue last month and it's been working great. I've been playing around with overclocking the GPUs (2x GTX780s) using MSI Afterburner and watching the temperatures using EVGA Precision X.

Using the sliders in MSI Afterburner I have the GPU core clock set to 1100MHz. However, when I have Precision X open on my second monitor during gaming, I notice that the fastest speeds my GPU top out at is only 1006MHz, and the second card 980MHz.

I know that these cards are capable of going faster safely, since the temperature only gets up to about 75 degrees C. Why do they peak at only 1007MHz when they are "allowed" to go much faster?

Thanks in advance!

It sounds like a voltage issue.   Within PrecisionX and maybe Afterburner is a Overvoltage adjustment where you tweek voltage to achieve higher clock.    The chips might just need more juice to hit the higher clock.

Good luck.

If it is reaching 75C at stock voltages I would be very careful pushing them much higher. Doesn't the GPU start to throttle back at 80C?

That does not give you much room at all.

From what I've seen is that Afterburner will allow you to raise the temps a little if your trying to run your GPU's hard...

You should not use both afterburner and precision at the same time, they will override each other.

set your oc with afterburner and then with it you can check everything also no need to run precision.

75'C is not bad. Graphics cards are designed to safely hit 90'C when running turbo mode.

Max gpu temp for 780 is 95c but I would not go over 80c with it.
