So why are they not increasing cores with the new models? Seems things are moving to 6-8-even 10 cores. I've been running quad core for 8 years.

This is not the highend platform, that would be the follow up to brodwell (x99), this is the follow up to skylake (z170). The mid range are 4 cores.

I say midrange but don't let that fool you, there is not midrange about its performance specially in gaming. Also midrange in the i7 line up not the whole intel lineup.

It looks like the Kaby Lake chipset (200) will be 24 PCI-e 3.0 lanes (up from 20 on 100-Series Chipset). I wonder if this is going to be more PCI lanes.

I wonder if the extra lanes are more for storage than graphics.  Still not enough for x16x16.  x16x8 without pcie storage , maybe.

Just thinking out loud.  Big%20Smile

Yea, won't know until some more info gets out there. I saw one article that stated the PCIe lanes would increase to 24 on the new chip set.

Ya the extra 4 pci lanes are more geared toward m.2 drives.
