    Posted: 03 Aug 2012 at 3:38pm

Been looking for a new rig for a little whlie.  Have used a few configurator sites and been looking at a lot of reviews.   Really like what I've seen here, looks like great customer sevice and help from others.

I have a buget of about $3000, what ive come up with is a little over but think i can over a 100 or 200.

Right now i have about 2 1/2 y/o alienware m-atx x58, 6g corsair, and i think the 5790 4g, with the alienware 23" monitor.  Might use that mointor for a bit, but i'm looking at the asus 27" 3d.  Mainly going to be gaming like D3 and witcher 2, anything action/adventure/rpg.  Do play fps's too.  Want to get in to 3d gameing and movies.  I also to be able to do some work with my hd camra to make blu rays  Not really into multi monitors, just cant get over the breaks in the screen.  Will be sitting up on wood stand and the temp is usually about 75-77f.

Heres what ive come up with.

Hi oneeviltrip,

Well you must have paid attention because that is a pretty good build. I see two problems. The Hailstorm case is a great case for LC cooling but not so good for air cooling. You need to LC your GPUs or get the HAF-X case. Or, you need to have DS mod the case and add two 120mm fans to the side for better cooling on the GPUs. It is listed as an option. It will make it a bit louder.

You have a good CPU cooler and should get the Stage-2 OC. It won't shorten the life of the CPU and just makes sense with a performance system like you are buying.

Hi oneeviltrip and welcome to the forums,

I will 2nd FrankW on the case.  If you are only going to LC the CPU then I would go with the HAF X case.  You can find it in the Special Ops section under Dreadnaught.  If you do go with the HAF X case you will not need the Upgrade Chassis Fans.   It comes with a front 230mm intake fan (Red LED) and a side 200mm fan that blows air on the Graphics Cards.

If the budget allows you way want to consider the Intel 520 series SSD is has a 5yr warranty vs 3 for the Corsair and runs a bit faster.

All in all a good solid build.  Keep us posted.

Therefore, the 1st step on the Holy Warrior path,
Is to recognize thyself as thy 1st enemy.

Yea that case is fantastic for Air - you can also ask your tech on the phone if they recommend any upgrades - they arent like other companies, they do not sell to sell - they sell for quality so don't worry about them taking you.

You don't need the antivirus but hey - if you want it get it.  Those 670s are gonna chew up witcher 2 and spit out the box.

Hi oneeviltrip,

Looking good. You won't be able to get a Stage 2 OC with the 3820 CPU. It is not a K model and they can't OC it as high as the 3930K. But that is alright. For gaming you won't notice the difference.

Yes, tju76 is correct. They will do it as high as they can and I think that is probably 4.5 with stage-2. Not much more that you will get with stage-1.

Finally got to order today.  Just changed to DS's RAM and went with just stage 1 on OC.  Also had front changed to blue and added extra top fan so I didn't have to mess with it.  So now i guess the wait starts.

Hi oneeviltrip,

Great job on your system. Unless things have changed the blue fan in the front will be a 200mm instead of 230mm that comes with the case. I don't know if that makes any difference in your decision. The extra top fan will help.
