Budget:
[Under 2k]

Expectations:
[Want to be able to run games close to if not at max and run smoothly]

Usage:
[gaming only - no video/photo editing]

Special Needs:
[Please Type Here]

Saved Ticket #: [Config # 1238668]

Please see config above, any advice would be appreciated. I'm not very up to date on PC's I've been on consoles for awhile. I'm not sure if i need to go better or lighter on certain specs like mobo etc. I will get a sound card but it will be a later in the year thing. As an additional note I don't plan to run two monitors ever and this is the one i will likely be using:
http://www.amazon.com/Asus-VG248QE-24-Inch-LED-Lit-Monitor/dp/B00B2HH7G0/ref=sr_1_4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1436712082&sr=1-4&keywords=gaming+monitor&refinements=p_89%3AAsus%7CSamsung

Thanks!

Hi bimicinski.....That's a nice build but  I'll make some recommendations.

The Vanquish level 4 for $150 cheaper will give you a larger SSD and better video card by about 15% or so.

If you want to stay with your build for the added ram and upgraded cooler and the overclock, that's not a bad idea either if in the budget.   For your build I'd change the case to the Corridium or the Apollo for the added fans and airflow.  The K380 you selected only has a single front fan, although the better 120mm cooler will add a fan on the back for better airflow.     The Corridium or Apollo are the better airflow case.

Also drop the H2O tubing.  That's for full water setup and doesn't apply to the sealed cooler selected.

Change the Seagate HDD to the Western Digital Black for another $19.  A better unit with longer warranty.   Also, the EVGA 750w SuperNova psu for another $30.  Gold vs Bronze unit and 3 year vs 10 years warranty.

The changes look like this...

I meant to change the internal UV lighting to a color choice.  The UV won't work with the cooler's tubing, same reason I dropped H2O tube color.  Big%20Smile

Yea i don't know anything about liquid cooling so I was taking a shot in the dark. What do you think about dropping the liquid cool and using that apollo or corridium case with the Noctua stage2 fans?

I like that option even better.   The sealed units are extremely popular, reliable and take up little room, but Noctua is tops in cooling and reliability and quiet.   Not much to go wrong with an air cooler.    The only thing is, the Noctua are large and will overhang the inboard ram slot.    The slots can be used but the fan overhands the inner most stick.  Fans come off easy.  If they use 2x8gb ram sticks then no problem either way I don't believe.  .

I dont think that extra little bit will kill me. My last question is even though i plan to use a 1920x 1080 monitor initially, if i upgrade to the 2560x1440 a year down the road would you forsee any problems with this setup? Or am I still fine GPU wise?

The 970 will still play pretty good on a 1440p monitor, but settings would need to be lowered to keeps frames up. 1080p to 1440p does take more horsepower, a rough guess is 40%, to stay the same.   In another year or two, new cards might be out or you can add another 970 in sli if needed.   The mobo and psu could handle it.

970 is a great card for the dollar.
