Question For the vets out there, planning to get another DS computer, replacing rig that I ordered from DS last 2011, who is showing its age, but still remained competitive in performance on memory and GPU uprades (this is will be the 4th computer of the household from DS)
Looking for Most Bang for the Buck in terms of performance Budget: Roughly 2K, or more Expectations: Can last Approx 4-5 years Usage: Computer Gaming, 4K, poss VR, usual desktop use Special Needs: Upgradeable somewhat to extend Comp Life Specifications: Plan to SLI a top performing GPU card in future once prices go down Thanks for the input! |

Nice build. I also recommend a larger OS drive if the budget allows. 500gb would be my minimum nowadays.
The Lumos doesn’t allow for an internal optical drive. The configurator doesn’t pick up on that when changing from Velox to Lumos. Just a small thing but might mean something to some. Edited by bprat22 - 22 Oct 2017 at 3:03am |

+1 on the above (memory storage and OS drive) in addition to each case (Velox v Lumos) having its window on opposite sides. the Velox has the mobo upside down showing on its window.

Thanks for the advice, I think it was DST4ME, who gave the advice for my 2007 PC build
Hmm, no optical drive might be an issue - planning to burn files and watch bluray with the PC, due to the 4 K monitor Wondering if this build is the sweet spot for performance and price |

This build is best bang for the buck but you might want to consider the things we talked about.
For the case change to velox or cordium, then you have optical. Of course you can always just order an external optical drive also. 10 years later back together again Edited by DST4ME - 22 Oct 2017 at 10:38pm |
