Topic: Purchasing a new PC. Posted: 20 Dec 2017 at 5:58pm |
I am looking for a new PC I can be able to stream and obviously play games on it at the same time. I was looking at the Digital Storm Aventum 3 with a i9 7900 with a GTX 1080 Ti but I didn't know if that was overkilll I know a few youtubers I follow own the Aventum 3 just wasnt sure if that would be the right one for me. I obviously too would like to have special lighting. Right now I currently own a pc this is all I know for sure
Intel i7-4790 3.60 8.00 GB of RAM NVIDIA GEFORCE 960 Thank you if anybody can help that would be greatly appreciated. Edited by KiLLaMuNoZ - 20 Dec 2017 at 5:59pm |

You add some ram and upgrade gpu on current pc and you are good to go. Little oc on cpu.
What kinds of games you play? Mmo or fps? Edited by DST4ME - 20 Dec 2017 at 6:27pm |

Hi KiLLaMuNoZ,
That is a new monitor with a curved tn panel. Don't know how the off angle will show. TN panels have a limited viewing angle so the curve will add to the angle geometry. I'm sure you won't notice any changes in color sitting in front of it but your friends looking at you slaughtering the baddies might not unless they are right behind you. As to sli, you probably don't need it. The 1080ti by itself will run (not maxed) a 4K so a 1440 (2K) is perfect for it. ( A 1080 will run a 1440 monitor very well also) If you get a 4K later or feel you need more, then get another 1080ti but not needed. This IMHO only. Take with a lot of Norton crystals (salt). Sli for 1440p is completely pointless. You will not see any gains.

Scalable Link Interface. It’s two or more video cards working together.

The config you posted will be great. For 1440p gaming, sli, 2x video cards, would be a waste. The 2nd card wouldn’t have anything to do.

That's a qualified yes. The 1080 Ti will drive a 4k mon, just not at the highest settings for all games. Highest for some games, but not the most intensive. I've read that that the res of the 4k is so great that you can lower some visual effects without noticing in order to enhance other performance. For the mon you have now, you're in great shape. |

Your config is good for 4 k. Another 1080ti added in sli is ideal if you want top frame rates and visuals in all games.
Don’t need the cpu overclock. The stock Turbo works great. |

Yes, easy to add another card later if needed.
The Hero mobo doesn’t have WIFI if that was the reason for your first pick. There are other options for WIFI, like an add-in card or external USB dongle. Just an FYI. I prefer hard wired over WIFI. Edited by bprat22 - 28 Dec 2017 at 4:56am |

Looks good to me and Congrats.
I never sold an old pc, so don’t know. I usually save graphics card, drive, maybe psu from old unit for troubleshooting later. I wouldn’t think the hassle worth it, but depends. |
