I was hoping some of you could look this over and give a bit of feedback. My two biggest areas of question are should I pony up and go the rout of the 5820, and my choice in graphics cards. Looks like a strong build to me.
For gaming, the i7-4790k is excellent. You could even change to the i5-4690k and save a few bucks. Gaming doesn't make use of hyperthreading right now. The added cores in the 5820 and the faster ram that comes with that platform aren't needed right now for gaming. Can't predict the future. Can't say the added cores and faster ram won't help in some cases or in the future, some do see a difference, but bang for your buck is the 4690/4790k. The sli 970 is much stronger than a single 980. You didn't mention the monitor, but for single 1080p, a single 970 or 980 plays great. A 970 is about 10-15% behind the 980 in gaming. 970 is better bang for your buck but 980 is a bit stronger. Change the HDD from the Seagate to Western Digital Black. Better with longer warranty. If in the budget, go with the EVGA 750 SuperNova. Longer warranty and better unit. Hope this helps.
